4.10| The Vicious Zombie King Chen Hua

Start from the beginning

Zhu Liwei was the main protagonist of this world and his identity was set to be a member of one of the most powerful families. Not only that, his dual abilities were extremely rare, and his talents were nurtured by the government itself. Chen Ling as a healer, she had received satisfying treatment from others. Especially after she had become Zhu Liwei's partner, her life could be guaranteed to be smooth-sailing as long as Zhu Liwei didn't abandon her.

So it wasn't weird that their clean and neat appearance was out of place and brought interest from nearby civilians. Women sent fluttering looks to Zhu Liwei, hoping to attract his attention, while men ogled and whistled at Chen Ling's voluptuous body, hoping to get a taste of it.

While Zhi An's and Chen Hua's gaze was unknowingly attracted to these two main protagonists, their reasons clearly differed to those who were around them. Zhi An's gaze at them was merely an interest from a passerby's point of view, a hint of curiosity appeared in his eyes. Whereas, Chen Hua's gaze was one that overflowed with intangible emotions. There was anger, sorrow, hate, guilt, fondness... but all that turned back to indifference when he blinked his eyes once again.

The last time Chen Hua properly saw Chen Ling was when he was standing at the edge of the cliff in his past life. His sister who had always taken his side when he had arguments with his parents were now standing on the other side with her lover. He had remembered her gaze when he looked at her before his death— he had expected to see even a little bit of regret or sympathy— yet the woman looked at him with disgust and hate, as if he was really an abomination that should be eradicated at all costs.

I could understand if my own sibling suddenly had unspeakable feelings over me once I became an adult. I will probably be disgusted too. Chen Hua sneered in his mind.

But does being together for 6 years mean nothing to her? Does the time that we spent together in our childhood years mean nothing?

Even when he was thrown out of the caravan and eaten alive by the zombies, he still didn't hate her. He just wanted to live, and God gave him that chance. When he became a zombie, he was thankful that he got another chance to live on that day.

But what can he do when the world prayed for his death?

He sought the last person in his heart, Chen Ling, his little sister. He wanted to make sure that at least one person wanted him alive in this world, even if she had betrayed him once.

But reality slapped him in the face.

"Brother, please sacrifice your core for us! I swear that I will pay you in the afterlife. Please, please die for us!"

That's the sentence that caused his thread of sanity to snap in his head.

Is it wrong for me to want to live?!

If the world doesn't want me, then I'll just destroy it! Is what he thought at that time.

But even in the end, he still died. And he returned to the past.

"Are you okay?" A warm hand touched his skin. A gentle voice softly tickled his ears. "You're not having another panic attack, are you?"

The owner of such a voice was currently looking up at him with an adorable pair of eyes. His lips were opening and closing at a near distance— it made him want to impulsively do something.

"Yes, I'm fine." Chen Hua smiled gently at him.

The past doesn't matter.

As long as I have one person on my side, then that's all that matters.

At that moment, a loud announcement rang throughout the main hall.

"Good morning everyone. I'm sure you've all had a good sleep." The colonel who they met yesterday was currently standing on the raised podium. His expression was somber and serious, his body full of rigidness and resoluteness. "I'm here to disclose the things we will be doing in the next few days..."

"At 9 a.m, we will be departing to Qingyang District which will take 30 minutes by car. Our target this time is a High-ranked Zombie at 6th Rank. In the past month, there had been hundreds of casualties around the district and we were told to dispatch more than 20 of you."

The people that would be involved in this expedition were all 4th rank users ability and above. The strongest men amongst the group was Zhu Liwei and Chen Hua, who were both Rank 6 users ability.

"We estimated that you all can return by midnight if everything goes according to plan. However, do be cautious and bring yourself some sleeping gear— just in case some unknown variable appeared and you all had to sleep outside for a night! Hahahaha!" The colonel laughed, trying to break the tense atmosphere but it instead caused several people to flinch.

"As usual, you will be rewarded according to the number and rank of zombies that you killed. If you die, your merit will be given to your families or relatives. I had appointed Colonel General Zhu Liwei to lead the group in this expedition. You will be informed of the things you have to do before your departure. That is all and I wish you all luck!"

The people in the hall clapped unanimously as the Colonel ended his announcement. Their eyes looked at the next person who was climbing the podium, who was none other than Zhu Liwei.

"Hello, my name's Zhu Liwei, your leader for the next following hours. I will be distributing you to smaller groups where a nominal leader will be appointed." Zhu Liwei said and he started to list out the names of the user ability.

"Fan Hua, Zhuang Ye, Fu Tai, Gu Zheng, and Dun Li will be in Group A whose task was to investigate the surrounding area upon arriving in Qingyang district. During the battle, it will serve to support the rest of the group."

"Shen Zhong, Hong Sifu,..."

Zhu Liwei continued to list out a bunch of names and mention their tasks respectively for the next ten minutes. It was only at the end that Zhi An and Chen Hua felt their names being called.

"Zhi An, Chen Hua, Fang Liyuan, Chen Ling, and I will be in Group F, who will work along with Group D and E as an offense team." Zhu Liwei closed the document as he finished his statement. He raised his eyes and with a cold expression said, "I don't expect you all to be fond of me, I just wanted one thing: follow my orders and don't act as you like. I don't need children treating the apocalypse as a playground— all I need are soldiers that are ready to sacrifice their lives to kill even a single zombie, do you get me?"

"Yes!" The audience roared, their loud voices boomed across the whole hall. "We shall follow your orders!"

Zhu Liwei smirked, "Perfect. I expect you all to be present at the gate of the city by 9 a.m. I expect no tardiness. Meeting adjourned."

Chen Hua looked at the man who was leaving the hall with a straight back. As much as he hated him, Chen Hua couldn't deny that Zhu Liwei indeed did have the charisma of a leader. It wasn't weird that in his last life, he was able to bring all humans together just to hunt him alone.

Chen Hua's gaze on him narrowed, a sliver of killing intent escaped.

As long as you leave me alone in this life, I won't touch you.

But if you dare cross my path, don't blame me for being rude to you.

"Let's go, Chen Hua." Zhi An's soft voice rang in his ears.

The man apparently had already walked a few steps ahead of him. Maybe because he realized that the presence of him wasn't there, the young man looked back at him, waiting for Chen Hua to catch up to him.

Chen Hua raised his gaze to look at him. His eyes that were previously cold were now warm, full of gentleness.

"En."
