CHAPTER 1 - Perfectly Imperfect Fate

Start from the beginning

“Yes Star?” she looked at her and her sister made a sad face.

She cupped Spring’s face with her left hand and used her right to wipe the tears off her sister’s face. “Don’t cry baby girl. Your make up will be washed away! Be thankful that your mascara is waterproof or you’ll end up dripping black water on your dress!” she lectured while smiling. Spring knew her sister was feeling the same way as she does. Silence filled the air as she sat opposite of Spring. They were just staring at each other. Sadness was all she could see in her sister’s eyes but she still managed to burst into laughter.

“Why are you laughing?” Spring asked.

“Nothing… Nothing… It’s just—years ago, you’re just a little baby, now you’re getting married. I can’t say I’m happy for you, I mean in that situation, but I’m still wishing you a happy and good married life in advance…” she stood up and made her way to the door. “Just remember little sissy. Love can be learned. Especially if your soon-to-be-husband is smoking hot and handsome.” She winked at her little sister and laughed again and in just a split of seconds, she was out of her sight.

Spring let out a long and sad sigh, wishing that it would take her breath away before she trail down to the ceremony. But it didn’t. She just found herself walking towards the front door slowly. When she reached the golden structure, she held it and pushed the cold metal open. She almost forgot that it was the spring season. The flowers were in full bloom, and that was the reason why her mom chose to let the wedding ceremony in this season because she said it was romantic. Blah. It was not.

Their garden was filled with white cloth and red roses. It was so enchanting to see the venue. It was really beautiful and charming. People were waiting patiently on their seats. Children were running around. Spring’s favorite spot, the fountain, was decorated with white and pink. Then someone from the crowd shouted that she was already there. Well, obviously. Her dad welcomed her with his embrace and she couldn’t help but embrace him too. She missed his loving touch. He looked at her and smiled.

“You’re beautiful.” He commented.

“Thank you dad.” she replied, with tears forming in her eyes. He held up his hand and wiped something on his daughter’s face.

“Stop it, my angel. Don’t cry. This is your day.” He said, almost whispering.

Her day? Was he joking? He didn’t know how much hurt she was going through especially today. She faked a smile and nodded.

As they were walking down the aisle, people she knows and don’t know stared at her. They were smiling like nuts. She smiled back, pretending everything was okay. There was a woman who congratulated her; there was someone who told her how beautiful she was. It was funny, because they will never say those things to her if and only if they knew what she was going through. Funny, for they will never be here greeting her if she just refused her father’s plan in the first place.

The end was fast approaching. She didn’t realize that it was time to let her father’s arm go. She wanted to cling to him like she did when she was little and bury her small face to his chest when she felt like crying. As much as she want to do those things, she knew she wasn’t supposed to do it. This was not just a simple ‘tripping’ or ‘nightmares’, but this was real life. She was about to get married. And this was nightmare and she should be the one responsible for finding an exit. Not her dad nor her mom, but herself.

Her dad led her to her ‘soon-to-be-husband’. He was smiling at her father, and she could say it was a genuine smile, though his eyes showed no emotions. It sums up that he didn’t want this thing as much as she didn’t want it too. His eyes moved towards Spring, scanning her face as if she was some terrestrial specie. She flashed a smile on him but he didn’t give back a response.

And the ceremony went on. The ‘I do’s’, the ring-thing and now it was time for the kiss. Oh heck, kiss?!

“I said, you may kiss the bride.” The priest said, smiling at the both of them. She was preoccupied on everything that matters in this world that she didn’t notice that it was time for the kiss. Spring looked at him, only to find out that he was also looking at her. The crowd started yelling ‘Go on’. Suddenly, her face was enveloped by a pair of warm hand. His hands… and he was motioning her face towards his. She wanted to escape but his blue eyes were so inviting. Moments later and she could feel his soft and warm lips brushing against hers. It was a gentle kiss. It didn’t last long, yet it was good. She felt like fireworks started to explode at the sky. She didn’t know if he felt it too. She felt like her face was turning into a deep red. Little did they know that it was her first kiss, her very first kiss. He didn’t look at her. He immediately looked at the cheering crowd.

And now… They were officially married.

News Flash! Her husband’s name is Louis. Louis William Tomlinson. Yes, she knew him because he was her schoolmate when she was in college. She kinda knew him because he was the leader of the player and jerk group, ‘One Direction’. He was also the former captain of the football team.

Her sister was wrong when she said he was smoking hot and handsome. He was sinfully hot and incredibly handsome! But she would die first before he could hear it from her own mouth.

Next thing she knew was that he was motioning her towards the reception area. The day had gone by really fast. The people were starting to go home. She was really tired and she absent-mindedly left Louis, his family, and her family in the guest room so that she could go to her own room. She was on her way out when they called her name.

“Spring, my dear, you and Louis will be living in the same house we bought for the both of you.” Her father announced. Louis and Spring looked at them and their fathers were smiling like nuts.

“WHAT?!” she squealed. Her father and Louis’s father walked towards them and gave them a key.

“Son… You’re on your own now. Good luck.” Mr. Tomlinson said while patting his son’s shoulder. Louis just smiled.

“Go now. Go on.” Her father told them. Spring’s mom, sister and brother hugged her really tight. Her dad, on the other hand kissed her forehead. She looked up at him, only to find out that he was teary-eyed. She smiled at her father and gave him thumbs up, signaling him that she’ll be fine. Her mother sniffed really loud making her laugh. She pulled away from her father’s arms and went towards Louis who was now on the front door.

When they were out, a white limousine was waiting for them. The man opened the door and she stepped inside. She was followed by Louis, of course.

The ride was really quiet and awkward. She realized that he wasn’t talking to her since this morning. She looked at him and he was looking outside the window. His face was so peaceful though she could see hurt in his expression. He was also holding his phone and as much as she could see, he was deleting 300 or 800 files from it. She looked at his face again. Was he… crying?

He suddenly looked at her so she looked away. Was he really crying? Why? It was boggling her head.

15 minutes later and they were in her—their house. He was the first one who got out of the car. He didn’t look back to help her out. Surely she wasn’t handicapped, but with the gown and high heels she was wearing, it was impossible for her to get out.

When she finally got out, the limousine drove away. She was left standing outside the cold spring night. She looked at the house. It was kinda big for the two of them. It was cute and cozy. It was painted with brown and white. She felt as if she was in their family’s rest house. The garden was so beautiful and there was a swing on the left side. She went to where it was and sat there. She was thinking about her father, her mom, her siblings, and the life she will have with Louis, that she didn’t notice that her stubborn tears were oozing out of her eyes. She gently wiped it out. She looked up and saw a light from the second floor. It was probably from Louis’s room. She turned away and swung myself up, up, and up. The air pressure made her hair escape from the bobby pins. The cool wind was drying the tears on her face. She felt like a child.

Minutes later, she went up to her room which was beside Louis’s and she flopped her body on her bed, tired with the things that had happened earlier, tired of her life, and tired of everything. She wished that was just a dream, a nightmare. She realized that she was still wearing the wedding gown and her make up but it was too late, her eyes were starting to close.
