"Hugh, I... love you, you bastard."

I felt my whole world stop as I can only hear the wild beat of my heart.

Tears swell up in the sides of my eyes as I lean once again to kiss her forehead.

"I love you too, baby."

This is the risk that's literally worth every sacrifice.

"Razuel, how do I make a woman fall for me?"

I called him first thing after Leigh escaped me.

"Really?" Dinig ko ang pagginahawa nito, inaantok pa.

"Speak up, Razuel. I'm starting to get impatient."

"Okay, all right. It's just easy if you listen carefully." Tumango ako hindi na nagsalita ayaw madisturbo ang pakikinig. "You should... pursue her! It's common sense!"

Magsasalita na sana ako ng naputol ang tawag. Naiiling na umupo ako sa higaan.

I came to her office several times but everytime, she's either busy, not there, having a meeting, at home, and even on a business trip!

She is obviously avoiding me!

Nauubusan na rin ng maidadahilan ang kanyang sekretarya.

We should talk! I can't have her avoiding me like nothing happen between us! Baka nga buntis na siya hindi niya lang sinasabi sa akin!

"Athena, you know my hands are full. Kindly tell him that I got no time." Sabi niya sa kabilang linya ng intercom.

Binasa ko ang labi. I have enough of her avoiding me.

Pumasok ako sa kanyang opisina at nakira siyang minamasahe ang sintido.

Is she having a headache? She should rest.

"If this is not business, then you have the right to get out of my office. The door is always open."

Why so formal, hm?

"What do you want me to do? Be happy because something happened between us? Be grateful that what we had done, will now make other people suffer?"

Suddenly, I felt cold watching her cold eyes stare at me making me loosen my hold on the side of her chair.

"What we had done is nothing but infidelity. I cheated on Carter at walang rason ang nakapagpabago sa ginawa natin, sa ginawa ko."

Like lightning, it struck me fast.

She's right. I made her a cheater. I forgot that she's already committed. Ako na lang pala ang kumakapit pa sa kamay na matagal na akong binitawan.

Napatayo ako mula sa aking kinauupuan ng makita siyang pumasok sa pintuan ng Club. Mga mata ay pagod na pagod habang wala sa sarili itong naglakad patungo sa bar.

Lalapitan ko na sana siya ng maalalang may boyfriend siya.

Where is her boyfriend, anyway? Nagpapakalasing na ang girlfriend niya dito.

Hindi ko na napigilan ang sariling tumayo at lumapit sa kanya ng hindi naman lang nito mabuksan ang takip ng bote.

"Thank you." Kinuha niya ito at muling tumungga.

She has plans to get wasted. She doesn't have a driver, her fucking boyfriend is not even here.

Naiinis na sinuklay ko ang aking buhok at umupo sa high chair, tatlong upuan malayo sa kanyang pwesto.
