I will tell her after Christmas...

Mason repeated this sentence in his head, as his eyes slowly started to flutter in tiredness, until he fell into a deep sleep.

The one thing he hated doing.

I open the front door after hearing the echoing sound of the bell ringing.

"Feliz Navidad hija!" My mother wished as she pulled me into a hug. Her and Selena arrived from our original home just now for Christmas.

I hugged her back, breathing in the fresh smell of perfume on her hair and neck. "Merry Christmas to you too, mother." I replied.

I let go of her embrace to hug Selena who stood by the door in a cute red dress and white and red striped stockings. Her blonde hair was styled in similar loose curls like mine today.

"Happy Christmas!" I wished her and she smiled against my kiss on her cheek. "I have your present in my room, okay? Want me to get it for you?" I asked her and Selena nods excitedly.

"Yes please." She exclaimed.

Mother gives me an appreciative smile for buying a gift for Selena. She then takes her hand in Selena's and starts to walk down the hallway to the kitchen where Aunt Em, Uncle Ken, and Aidan were all helping each other out with the Christmas dinner.

I started to walk up the stairs to retrieve Selena and my mother's Christmas presents, but when I arrived in my room I caught Mason waiting for me at his window.

I laughed to myself, and walked to my windowsill and opened the window widely, a fresh gust of wind fanning my face.

The Canadian weather was awfully cold and snowy today. At other times I'd complain or whine, but since it was Christmas the snow brought a cosy holiday feeling compared to the draining anxiousness I've been feeling this past month.

Kailani left early this morning, around half nine in the morning. However, because of the slight pain I'd experience during my sleep sometimes, I found myself waking up to use the bathroom at around three past five in the morning. Right at that time Kailani received a message from Mason on her phone that lay on the nightstand, and my curiosity got the best out of me.

Kailani had given me the password to her phone earlier.

When Mason replied with "you know what", I had no choice but to lie in response. If I questioned him again he'd eventually realise it was really me texting him and not Kailani, which I couldn't risk. I know snooping through her phone was bad, but it was tempting and at that moment I could not control my curiosity. I made sure to delete the messages I sent to him through Snapchat.
