Harsh lights flooded the hospital bed. "Might he change his mind?" Each word drained his life.

"Never."

"He refused even when we visited him in person," Raphael added.

"May I join you on the job? Please! I would do anything for more time."

Tough luck. "He's not looking for workers." I turned to the wall.

"Two days! Until my dear daughter can come here for our farewell!"

"Any other relatives?" the tactless boy asked.

"Nobody else."

"May we talk with her? Miracles are out of our scope, but we will give her your last words."

He received a minor piece of useless paper and left. I trailed behind him.

"Do it yourself. I am not a wish-granter."

"Come on! We must help people in any way possible!"

"Imagine the perfect life if the angel also believed it."
