ONE MONTH LATER…

“Wilson! ”An officer yelled in frustration.

A smirk escaped my lips before I let go of Shin’s arm.

“We're just playing around, officer,” I said, giving him a firm look.

“It’s fine, Officer; we're just doing martial arts,” said Shin, who is now massaging her shoulder and slightly twitching in pain.

I cross my arms and look at Barry, who sits comfortably on the benches. Besides her was Ate Marissa, who was grinning widely at me.

The policeman turns his back once more and gives us a suspicious look before disappearing into this little, covered field.

“Ano, kaya pa? ”Tanong ko kay Shin. Masamang tingin ang ipinukaw nito sa akin na bahagya kong ikina halakhak.

“Ano? Hanggang d’yan lang pala kaya mo eh,” dagdag ko bago tumalikod at iniwan na siya sa gitna ng field. Naupo ako sa tabi ni Barry, inalis ang tali ng aking buhok at bahagya itong sinuklat ng aking daliri.

“Carter will be shocked to see you fight like that,” Barry said.

“Please let us not talk about him,” I insisted.

“And why? ”

“Because I don't want to.”

“You're funny, Jam. You're the one who chose this situation; pagkatapos ay iiwasan mo naman pala ‘yong mga kaibigan mo.”

I can't help but to tighten my jaw.

“I'm just protecting them,”

“Oh, please, Jam, you can't pretend in front of me.” I looked away and took a deep breath.

“For now, I'm just trying to ignore them, but once I make the initial move, I'll definitely come back. Alam ko, kasing gagawa ang paraan ang mga ‘yon para tulungan ako. Hindi ko kakayaning may masaktan nanaman sa kanila.”

“That's understandable, Jam. But don't you think it's too much? They might be so worried about you.”

“I bet they do. But it's better this way.”

“Alright, I'll help you if that is your plan. In order to avoid having to lie to Miggy and Pow about you, I have chosen not to meet them either.

"Barry, thank you."

"No issue."

Her encouragement gives me hope that, despite everything, I'm still fortunate. I know that Ara, Carter, and now Barry will always be by my side. Not to mention her companions, Pow and Miggy, who are also a huge help to me.

“Hija, Jam,” Ate Marissa said.

I can't help but smile widely because of what she said to me. Barry gave me a side glance as well. Nodding her head as if telling me that this is it. My first ever strike plan.

“Thank you, Ate Marissa. This is really a big help. I just still can't believe that you can make it possible.”

“Hija, everything is about...” She pointed her fingers at me and rubbed them together, which made me and Barry bitterly laugh.

“Money,” I added to her words.

“Exactly.”

“However, Tita Marissa, I was wondering why you chose not to use money to escape this,” Barry asks abruptly. I give her a warning look since it's very insensitive, but she just raises her eyebrows at me.

“Totoong kayang bilhin ng pera ang kalayaan. Pero ang dignidad, mahiram bawiin.”

Natigilan kami pareho.

“Mapagtagumpayan mo mang habulin ang katotohanan, hindi ibig sabihin nuon na mabubura mo ang lahat ng kahihiyang naranasan mo sa isipan ng mga tao.”

I bit on my lip. She was right. Despite my repeated assurances of my innocence, some people will not accept my denials. I bowed my head and cried so profoundly that someone will always remember. Everyone can still clearly recall the face I once turned into a murderer.

“But I know you can do better than that. Eto ang tatandaan n’yo. Hindi magiging madali ang mga susunod na araw. Magtagumpay man kayo o hindi iisa pa rin ang magiging tingin sa inyo ng tao, murderer, makasalanan, mamamatay tao. What matters, though, is that you resist letting those words consume you. Don't allow yourself to think that everything they say is real. Whatever name they give you, you are aware of who you are. You recognize your name.”

“The efforts that each of you put forth to establish your innocence have truly amazed me. I know you have special people waiting for you outside who will never pass judgment on you. Consider that a blessing and a source of strength to go through and win this match. I'll be your ate Marissa along the way. Tutulungan ko kayo sa paraang kaya ko. Okay? ”

I nodded at her, as did Barry. supplying consolation and energy to hearts.

She is right. Although I will be seen negatively by hundreds of people, I have peers who know me well. That is enough.

***

“The package is here; take it,” Ate Marissa said, lending me the cart. I nodded, grabbed her hands, and squeezed them gently. Giving her a genuine smile and a big thank you for helping me.

“No problem; go ahead. That is Shin's duty anyway. Ako na ang bahala sa kaniya.

“Thank you.”

After taking over with the cart full of bread from the company that supports the women's jail, I took a deep breath and prepared myself.

This bread is delivered inside once a month, and it is our job to divide it up equally. But now, my system desires not just the bread but also the item that is currently concealed beneath these bread boxes.

“Hoy! hoy! Saan mo ‘yan dadalhin? Sa jail one ka naka assigned diba?” Biglang puna sa akin ng isang pulis ng akmang papasok na ako sa pasilyo patungo sa hanay ng aming selda.

“I switched with Shin,” I said.

“Ano? Hindi pwede! Sundin n’yo ang assigned sa inyo, hindi kayo pwedeng basta-basta na lang mag palit ng trabaho.”

“Why? This is just the distribution of bread. What could be wrong? ”

“Anong mali? Dahil isa sa mga hanay na ‘yan ay selda mo. Anong kasiguraduhan, wala kang ipupuslit na kung ano d'yan? ”

“You're being delusional.”

“And you're making me pissed off. Wag mo akong sinasagot-sagot Wilson. This jail is not your territory.”

Tumaas ang aking kanang kilay.

“I'm not going to make this my territory. You know where my place is? ”He swallowed hard when I stepped closer to him.

“Outside,” I whispered, making sure that my breath would reach his neck.

When I moved back from my position, I noticed how he suddenly got sweaty and uneasy.

“Oh, you're sweating. No doubt it's really hot in here, Jake.”

I made sure to lick my lips first before uttering his name, which is written on his uniform. I'm still not satisfied with what I'm doing. I unbuttoned my upper jumpsuit almost halfway, revealing my cleavage.

“So, gotta go? I think I might take a shower too after distributing this.” I give him a wink and wave my fingers before carrying out my plan.

“Dang, that is so cheeky,” Barry said, who walked beside me, claiming to help me distribute the food.

“Oh, shut up, Barry!” I exclaimed, but she only laughed at me playfully.

I removed the package from beneath the boxes when we got to our cell. Barry nodded to me, took control of the cart, and started distributing the bread while I was hidden in my cage.

The moment I saw the rectangular device, I instinctively smiled. I opened it, trying to make sure it was functioning. I suddenly snap my fingers in delight when I see a well-known gadget brand.

“Siason! What are you doing? ”A policeman's voice roamed around the hallway, so I immediately closed the netbook and hid it underneath my bed.

“I thought, si Wilson, ang gagawa niyan? Where is she? ”Said the policeman earlier.

“I'm here,” I replied, making both of them look at me.

“Where did you go? ”

“Nothing,” I said. His face gave me a warning look, and then he walked towards my cell.

“What is this? ”I bit my lip.

He was now pointing at a box lying on the floor. My heart raced rapidly, realizing that I wasn't able to hide the box.

“Ahm-”

“That's a bread box.” Biglang pag singit ni Barry.

“I'm sorry, officer. I gave her permission to eat the bread because she is very hungry. I believe she consumes everything without cleaning up. Next time, I'll make sure to remind her.”

“You consume everything in a minute? Do you really think I'll buy that? ”Jake murmured, casting a new glance in my direction. Suddenly, I know exactly how this is going to play out.

"Barry, ako na ng bahala,” I told her. She gave me a troubled look at first, but when I nodded at her, she took a deep breath and left.

“What do you want? ”I said, crossing my arms.

“I know you were both lying, Wilson. And what you did to me back there is proof that you are opting for something.”

I gulped.

“I am not.”

"Yes, you are. You intend to turn me on earlier because you're a slut after all. Perhaps you are compelled to find a man who will quench your thirst. Am I right? ”

“What? ”Hindi makapaniwala kong tanong.

I felt both relieved and disappointed when I grasped what he was talking about.

"Am I correct?" he questioned again.

I search for words, but then I realize that in order to really get going with my strategy, I needed something more. And help was provided to me directly at this moment.

Without giving it any thought. I kiss him and hold his nape. He must be pretty hard right now because he presses me against the wall and clutches my waist with ease. He pushed my cell, which was open, and led me inside.

At last, his lips followed the line of my jaw, and I touched his hair with my fingernails as the other pulled his arms toward me. I realized that he was obsessively touching my body. I moved to remove the object gleaming in my eyes by reaching for his belt.

With a wide grin, I uttered a murmur, "I got it! ”

"What?" the man said as he raised his head to see my face."

I smile even wider.

"Gotcha!” I exclaimed!

After saying that, I advanced to his crotch with my knees. While I covertly hid the pocket knife I took from his belt.

Jake whimpered in agony.

“Jake, just leave me alone. You've done a good job as a cop. Don't let your desire destroy your reputation. In many ways that they never planned to, women always seem hot and seductive. if you'd like to be a decent person. Avoid drawing hastily conclusions that could get you in danger.”

“Santos?”

Officer Shang gave him a shocked glance before turning to face me.

"Santos, what are you doing here?"

Jake stops himself from moaning and straightens his posture. Even so, he straightened his ripped uniform and gave me a sharp glance.

"Nothing," he replied before leaving my cell and passing by Shang.

"Don't try to—Wilson,"

"Whatever!” I yelled before she could say anything else. Not only that, but I also rammed the metal door, shutting her out.

as soon as I hear the lock snap in. Grinning, I reached under my bed to retrieve the device, then I went to the restroom and inhaled deeply.

This is it, I said to myself.

I open the knife after grabbing a bit of fabric and putting it in my mouth.

"Jam?"

I heard Barry's voice.

I inhaled deeply and cut the skin under my arms. I cry out in agony, and if the cloth doesn't help, my cries will make this cage noisy as hell.

“Jam, my goodness! What are you doing? ”When she noticed the blood spilling on the floor, she cried out in terror.

I have to do it even if my body begins to sweat and my tears begin to well up. I am unable to stop now.

Barry started to panic in front of me, so I cut the knife even more. When I have had enough, I drop the knife and use the sink to clean my bloodied left hand. And when my fingernails start to dig into my skin, I close my eyes tightly.

Barry is crying too, right along with me, but she knew better than to let anyone see what we were doing. She put both of her hands over her lips, preventing any noise.

My flesh has already consumed the micro-flash drive after a month. That's why some of my skin covered the tiny gadget as I pulled it off.

The ordeal hasn't ended yet. I took the super glue and applied it to the wound, doubling the pain.

By the time I completed it, my body was exhausted. I let Barry cry in front of me while I sat on the bloody floor.

"Jam, I had no idea that you carried that inside of you."

"This is the only way I can bring this inside, so I have to."

She turned to give me an embrace after nodding at me. Since pain was still taking over my entire existence, I allowed her to assist me with getting dressed before returning to my bed.

"I placed the gadget under the bed. If you feel well, you can check it.” She led me to the bed and said, "Take a rest for now."

"Thank you.”

“No, Jam, thank you very much. I am aware that you
are not only doing it for yourself, and even if you were, you would still ultimately be able to help many innocent women who are just like me. So, I'm grateful.”

I give her a sincere grin before deciding to shut my eyes and go to sleep.
