"Five more minutes."

"Okay, let's completely wrap this up before they arrive."

~

Thud.

Xing Hui slashed the last swordsman standing, and a relieved expression appeared on his face. He sheathed his sword into the scabbard, eyes scanning across the layers of corpses for his lover's figure.

He caught Fu Lin's figure on the second floor above him, eyes beamed into a smile, and his hands raised to wave— only to feel a danger behind him.

Swoosh

An arrow too fast to be caught by the naked eye bore down onto him, only to whiz past his head by a few centimeters and stab through the enemy standing behind him.

Puk! Thud!

"Hey, you okay?!" Fu Lin's voice could be heard from above, in his hands was a wooden bow twice his height. The young man had just killed dozens of archers hiding on the second floor. It took him a longer time than he thought.

A few minutes ago, Fu Lin had similarly killed the last archer. He was about to respond to his lover's wave when Fu Lin suddenly saw a black robed man jumped down from the ceiling and lunged towards his lover. Instinctively, Fu Lin grabbed the bow from the dead archer and knocked the arrow with full power.

Thus the situation.

But Xing Hui couldn't spare his lover another attention after he realised that a new batch of opponents was rushing towards him.

A group of assassins now?

Where did all these people come from? His eyes narrowed in confusion.

"Die..!" An assassin crept up behind him to try landing a fatal blow.

But it was cut short when Xing Hui's sword parried against the assassin's dagger.

"Kuh..!" Xing Hui could feel his wrists vibrating along with the sword as he blocked his opponent's attack. These groups of assassins were definitely stronger and faster than the previous groups of swordsmen. He didn't know how long they could persist before the palace guards arrived.

"Shit! I'll be there soon!" Fu Lin who witnessed the whole thing shouted. But a voice from above him made him halt his steps.

"Go kill the Emperor! Don't just crowd over him, you bastards!" It was Shao Liang's voice. Fu Lin could see his figure standing on the third floor and between the shadows, he could also see his uncle's figure.

I'm right..! My uncle is collaborating with someone! I never thought it would be with Shao Liang!

Fu Lin felt that the situation was extremely dire. There's barely anyone else that could fight. His eyes scanned across the room. Other than Xing Hui and himself, there's only seven more people that seemed skilled in dealing with the assassins. The rest were either heavily injured, or dead.

"General Su Ya, protect the Emperor! If you feel that you can't fight them, retreat!" Fu Lin shouted across the hall.

"Understood, your Highness!"

"Persist and survive until the palace guards arrive!"

"Understood!"

Meanwhile, I'll deal with the leader myself. Fu Lin's expression hardened as he set his gaze onto Shao Liang and Fu Heng.

The battle continued, and the sound of metal against metal resounded across the space.

Amongst the crowded groups, Xing Hui's figure could be seen fighting against a group of assassins. The young man could feel adrenaline rushing into his veins at this very moment. His opponents were like hyenas launching for a bite, all trying to land a fatal blow at an angle in which he couldn't see. But it instead made him very much alive.
