»❝welcome home❞ —radical face

Sapnap pulled down on the garage door string, opening it up to reveal the same hoarded garage. Tommy was used to the scene by now, simply sliding past him and heading inside without a moment's thought.

Sapnap carefully closed the garage door behind them as Tommy looked around for the 50th time.

"So what's it you've got to show me, big man?" Tommy asked while he fidgeted with a random tea cup.

Sapnap couldn't help but smile as he reached the cleared-out corner of the garage. Lifting the lid of a cardboard box, a small black kitten head popped out of the top and let out a sweet mewl.

Tommy's face immediately softened as he let out a tiny coo at the animal. He made his way towards the box and kneeled on the ground next to it, reaching out to pet its head. Tommy had always had a soft spot for small animals, so Sapnap saw it fitting to introduce him to Mars. He knew he would love the kitten before he even met it.

"Since when have you had a cat?" Tommy questioned after a while. The cat purred under his palm as he stroked its fur.

Sapnap shrugged. "Karl fixed it up last week. He made me keep it." Sapnap was still salty about that.

Tommy's eyebrows shot up and looked at Sapnap with a smirk. His face held a mischievous look to it that made Sapnap look at him in confusion.

"What?"

Tommy shrugged and sat back a bit, crossing his arms. "You like him, don't you, big man?" He accused playfully.

Sapnap's jaw fell open momentarily, not expecting those words to come out of Tommy's mouth. He then rolled his eyes and elbowed the kid. "Shut the fuck up."

"No, I'm serious!" Tommy suddenly whined out, giving Sapnap a shove back. "You wouldn't even hold onto my alto for me-"

"That's drugs, Tommy," Sapnap interrupted.

Tommy looked at the cat and then looked back at Sapnap. "Okay? This is a cat! Please tell me which one is easier to hide."

Sapnap frowned. That wasn't fair.

Tommy eyed his watch dramatically before crossing his arms once more. "I'm waiting," He announced with forced annoyance.

Sapnap let out a sigh of frustration. "Alright, fine. Maybe I feel a little different around him sometimes," He admitted.

"I KNEW IT!" Tommy shouted, giving Sapnap a slap on the shoulder. "Big man's got a crush!"

Oh, hell no. Sapnap wasn't going to take that.

The brunette lunged forward, wrapped his arm around Tommy's neck, and ground his knuckles into the kid's hair playfully. Tommy let out a screech and attempted to struggle out of his grasp. "Let go of me, bitch!"

Sapnap let out a giggle and let go of the younger. The blonde threw himself onto the ground and gasped for air, putting on a show. "You nearly killed me. I could've died," He added sternly.

"I wish," Sapnap joked back.

Tommy couldn't fight the smile that grew onto his face as he relaxed against the cool floor. Their relationship was full of banter, it was comforting. Neither Sapnap or Tommy were ones to verbally express how they viewed each other as brothers, so they both resorted to pretending they were already. It was how it always has been.

As Tommy appreciated the cool floor, Sapnap reached forward and started petting the kitten. "I named it Mars. Its leg is broken but I'm hoping it heals correctly," Sapnap explained quickly. "Besides that, the thing's cute. You want it?"

Tommy sat up instantly at the question. "No!" He declared. "I can't have a cat, are you insane?"

Sapnap seemed to ignore him, rubbing under the kitten's chin as it purred back up at him. "It's disabled, so it's easier to care for."

Tommy shook his head. "If you think my mother will let me have a cat, you are delusional my friend."

"Well, if you can't do that for me, I have another offer," Sapnap began to say.

Tommy raised an eyebrow. "What is it?"

Sapnap grinned. "It's an essay. I didn't even read the fucking book."

Tommy lit up. "I love reading!" He announced.

Sapnap already knew that. Despite the boy giving off rambunctious vibes, he was actually pretty bright for his age. He got good grades and impressed teachers at school. It shouldn't be that surprising that Sapnap used this to his own advantage.

"Yeah, yeah. Well, I was wondering if you could write my essay for it. I'll pay you or something."

Tommy opened his mouth to reply but seemed to hesitate, which confused Sapnap. Usually the kid never even had a second thought before accepting requests like this, but this time appeared to be different. Something was on the kid's mind.

"What?" Sapnap finally asked.

Tommy gave him a look like he was thinking deeply. "I'll only do the essay if you make a move on Karl," He finally declared.

Sapnap's heart dropped for a moment. What? "Are you fucking stupid? No," Sapnap instantly rejected. "I'll literally do anything else."

Tommy rolled his eyes. "I didn't stop my stealing habits entirely just for you to never get with him," He complained.

Sapnap tilted his head in interest. "Did you actually stop stealing?"

"Yes, big man. I did. Haven't stolen since Friday, actually," Tommy replied in a matter-of-fact tone.

Sapnap softened at that. He hadn't expected Tommy to actually do that for him. The kid had been struggling with kleptomania for a while now, so the fact that he was holding back was remarkable. Sapnap was proud.

With a sigh, Sapnap said, "Alright. I'll make a move."

The night ended with Tommy letting out a big cheer and hugging Sapnap. And if Sapnap laughed and hugged Tommy back, that was only for them to know.
