"Why are you breaking my balls, huh?" -J
"Because you don't have any!" -T
●Where Jeongguk is a stubborn, hotheaded college kid who resents changes of any kind, and Taehyung is a bubbly, high-spirited college kid who doesn't give two shits about that...
“It does sound crazy, but I believe you for some messed-up reason I don’t even know,” Jeongguk said as he presented a warm smile to him, feeling grateful for everything he had done for him. “Thank you for believing in me. And for helping me. For everything, actually. I owe a lot to you.”
“Nonsense, you don’t owe me anything. I’m just glad to see my students do well. And especially you. Don’t give up, Jeongguk.”
“I won’t. And, uh, are you gonna suspend me?”
“No, only because you didn’t hit him back. And I’m so proud that you didn’t, but why didn’t you?”
“I—I could never... I’ve been aggressive to him before, but I can’t hurt him. He’s too... I don’t know why, but I just can’t.”
“He’s too what?”
“I want to say... Um, I—I want to say—ugh, damn.” Jeongguk chuckled awkwardly as he couldn’t articulate what he wanted.
“It’s okay. It’s just me here. I won’t tell on you.”
Another uneasy, half laugh erupted from his mouth that piped down in no time as he rocked back and forth on his heels a few times, struggling to get the words across. “Precious,” he spouted off and tucked his face in his hands in sudden embarrassment. “I want to say he’s too p-pr-precious, but why the hell is it so hard?”
Mr. Kung endeavored to hold back his chuckles but failed miserably. “I’m sorry, it’s not funny,” he choked out through his fit of laughter and palmed his mouth in his attempt to contain himself. “I’m laughing because you’re really cute right now and I’m not used to your cute side yet.”
“I’m—I’m never cute!” he grumbled as his brows bumped together in protest, but it only amplified Mr. Kung’s chuckles.
“I like this side of you more than your aggressive one. And about why it’s so hard for you to say that, it’s because you’re not used to saying these things. When was the last time you called someone precious?”
“Um, never.”
“Exactly. Don’t overthink it. And you don’t have to say that to him if you’re not comfortable. But at least apologize to him, okay?”
“Yes, Mr. K. Thank you again.” Jeongguk bowed his head in a goodbye and smiled softly before he trod towards the door.
The moment he opened it, he spotted his group of friends, except Taehyung and Jimin, sitting nearby the office and approached them. “What are you doing here?”
“We ditched our classes. What happened?” Yoongi asked.
“Um, where’s Kim?”
“Kim Seokjin? Kim Namjoon?” Seokjin teased with a mellow chuckle that caused the caramel-haired boy to snort.
“Kim Taehyung.”
“He left with Jimin. He’s gonna stay in his house for a few days,” Hoseok replied in a quiet tone as he warily glanced at the younger.
“What? Why?”
“We’re hoping you can answer that because Taehyung couldn’t stop crying when he walked out of the office, and you seem fine to me,” Yoongi said, his voice thick with something serious that brought even more guilt to the caramel-haired boy.
“Fuck, I screwed up.” Jeongguk's knees gave in, leading him to crouch down, and he grasped his hair as he stared at the floor in despair. “I screwed up, I screwed up, I screwed up,” he repeated in a hazy murmur, feeling a stinging void overflow his insides.
“Come on, let’s go home for now.” Yoongi edged closer and heaved the boy to his feet.
“Hyung... don’t let him stay there.”
“I can’t force him to come back if he doesn’t want to, Kook. Maybe it’ll be for the best if he stays there for a few days.”
“No!” Jeongguk exclaimed suddenly, startling the other boys. “I have to... apologize.”
Four pairs of eyes widened in unison at his words and gaped at him in disbelief as it was the first time since they met him when Jeongguk said something like that. “How about you let him stay there at least for today, and maybe tomorrow you can tell him you want to talk?” Namjoon suggested, hesitant.
How am I supposed to sleep tonight if I do that? This thought wandered in his head, but he didn’t dare to vocalize it. “Okay,” he muttered reluctantly as he clutched Yoongi’s sweater, and the boy cracked a weak smile and muffled him in his hug a second later.
