Chapter 10

Sanju's POV

**One Week Later**

"Nikki, ready ayyava?" I call into the room.

"Nikki, are you ready?" I call into the room.

"Yea, come in." she replies.

I open the door and walk in. Nikki is putting her ear rings on. Before I could sit on the bed, the phone rings outside.

Sighing, I walk outside and take the call.

"Hello?" I say.

"Rey, Sanju, ekka unnaru ra?" Kaushik asks.

"Hey, Sanju, where are you guys man?" Kaushik asks.

"Bayaluderuthunnamu."

"We are starting."

"Sare, thvaraga randi."

"Okay, come quickly.

"Sare."

"Okay."

My voice is hesitant and sad, and even I know it. I still can't bear the thought of Ammu getting married to that guy.

"Sanju, veldama?" Nikki asks, walking out of her room.

"Sanju, lets go?" Nikki asks, walking out of her room.

I look at her.

"Nikki." I say.

She looks up at me from her purse.

"Hmm?"

"We need to talk."

I sit on the sofa and she sits next to me.

"Nikki, I'm sorry." I say.

"Sanju-" she starts, but I hold my hand up, stopping her.

"Nikki, nenu inka idi cheyyalenu. N-nenu emi avvanatlu ila undalenu. I'm sorry-"

"Nikki, I cannot do this. I-I can't go on like this isn't bothering me. I'm sorry I-"

I'm unable to continue. 

"Amyra. Arthamayyindi. Amyra kuda ninnu preminchindi Sanju."

"Amyra. I understand. Amyra also loved you Sanju."

I look at her, surprised.

She smiles at me.

"Vellu." she says.

"Go." She says.

It takes me thirty minutes to get to the mandap. I ran a few red lights, and raced past the yellow lights. I had taken my bike so that I could weave through the cars. As soon as I reach the mandap, I let my bike drop and rush to get there. It is already 10 minutes past the muhurtam(time of marriage), and I know I'm late.

I freeze when I see people putting the chairs away.

"Sanju?" I hear thatha's voice.

"Thatha, pelli..." I trail off.

"Thatha, the marriage..." I trail off.

"Emayindi ra?" he asks.

"What happened son?" he asks.

"Ammu-Ammuni choodali thatha." I say hurridely.

"Ammu-I need to see ammu thatha." I say hurridely.

"Ammuna?" he asks.

"Ammu?" he asks.

"Thappu chesanu thatha. Pedda thappu chesa." I say, tears forming in my eyes.

"I made a mistake thatha. I made a big mistake." I say, tears forming in my eyes.

He smiles.

"Rey, emayindi ra?" he asks.

"Hey, what happened son?" he asks.

"Ammuni vadili pedda thappu chesa thatha." I cry.

"I made a big mistake by leaving Ammu thatha." I cry.

He puts his hand on my shoulder.

"Ante?" he asks.

"Meaning?" he asks.

"Ammuni preminchanu. Naaku ippude thelisindi, Ammu kuda nannu preminchindi ani. Kaani ippudu pelli ayipoyindi."

"I loved Ammu. I just found out that Ammu also loved me. But now, she is married."

"Pella? Aagipoyindi ga." he says.

"Marriage? It got stopped right." he says.

I look up at him.

"Aagipoyinda?" I ask.

"It stopped?" I ask.

He nods.

"Ammu ekkada?" I ask.

"Where is Ammu?" I ask.

"Lopala undi." he replies.

"She's inside." he replies.

As soon as he said that, I ran into the room. When I open the door, Ammu stands and turns around.

Amyra's POV

I sit in front of the mirror. I couldn't do it. I couldn't marry Arun. He understood, and the marriage got canceled. Arun's parents did not mind, since theirs was also a love marriage, and they wanted both of us to be happy. My parents were a little angry, but they will get over it.

I take a deep breath and start removing my bangles one by one, slowly, automatically. Suddenly, my door flings open and I see Sanju. I quickly stand up and turn around, a smile radiating on my face.

"Sa-" I start, but he cuts me off.

Before I could get a word out, he had crossed the room and planted his lips on mine. A few moments later, we both pull away, out of breath.

"I love you." he whispers.

"I love you." I say back, and he kisses me again.
