Amyra's POV

I call thatha(grandfather) to tell him about me and Sanju being engaged to Arun and Nikki respectively.

"Emaindi Ammu?" he asks.

"What happened Ammu?" he asks.

"Enti thatha?"

"What grandpa?"

"Nee gonthulo oka...theleeni bada."

"In your voice...an unknown sadness."

I freeze. I was thinking about Sanju's reaction last night, when I told him. He just looked at us. He didn't say anything. I felt a bit sad. I wanted him to object. Something. But no, he just stood there, looking at Arun and me.

"Ammu?" thatha's voice is filled with concern.

His voice breaks me out of my thoughts.

"Uh, em ledu. Ratri nidra pattaledu. Anthe." I reply quickly.

"Uh, its nothing. I couldn't sleep last night. That's all." I reply quickly.

He chuckles.

"Uh, thatha, nenu malli phone chesthanu." I say.

"Uh, grandpa, I'll call later." I say.

"Sare amma. Repu vachesthamu."

"Okay dear. We will come tomorrow."

I sigh as I cut the call. I really didn't get enough sleep last night. I was up thinking. About everything. Sanju, Nikki, me saying yes to Arun. I know I shouldn't have, but know that Sanju is engaged, I can't really marry him.

"Ammu!" I hear Sanju's voice downstairs, and then the door bangs shut.

Hundred years. I think. I get up and walk down the stairs.

"Enti?" I ask.

"What?" I ask.

I can't get myself to meet his eyes. I look down, around, anywhere but into his eyes. I know that I can't look at him without his finding out the truth. My eyes fill with tears even though I try not to cry. I take in a shaky breath, hoping the tears would clear out before they poured out of my eyes.

"Ammu?" Sanju's voice is laced with concern.

I close my eyes tightly. The tears are on the edge of my eyes, threatening to fall over. I know that if one tear falls out of my eyes, I won't be able to control my self. I know it. I take in another deep, shaky breath, trying to calm my brain and my emotions.

"Ey."

"Hey."

I had forgotten that Sanju was standing in front of me. He gently puts two fingers under my chin, and lifts it. My face lifts up, but my eyes look down, not meeting his gaze.

"Ammu." he says again.

I close my eyes tightly for a couple of seconds and then open them, willing myself to look into my eyes. I clear my head, clear my emotions, just look at him without any emotion in my eyes.

"Emaindi?" he asks, worried.

"What happened?" he asks, worried.

I force a smile onto my face.

"Em ledu ra. Repu amma nanna vallu vasthunnaru. Vallani choosi chala rojulu ayindi kada, konchem nervous. Anthe." I answer.

"Nothing dude. Our parents are coming tomorrow. Its been a long time since we have seen them right, I'm just a bit nervous. That's all." I answer.

I am shocked when I realize that my voice was steady when I lied. I guess I have gotten better at lying to him.

That, or he is too into Nikki that he doesn't have time to look through your lies. My subconscious says.

I risk a look into his eyes, and I know that he saw right through my lie. However, he didn't push it. He just leaned towards me, and my heart races as the space between our lips closes. Right when I think he is about to kiss my lips, he plants a kiss on my forehead. I sigh as I close my eyes.

****

I wake up early. Then again, I didn't really sleep much last night, so I guess I really didn't "wake up" at all. I was practically up all night.

I decided to clean the house, since my mom would be mad to find the house messy. It's also a good thing, since its been a few days since I cleaned it.

By the time I finish taking a shower, Sanju is awake and done too. I quickly make two cups of coffee for the both of us and we both sit down to chill and watch a movie.

****

Our families arrive at eleven. We catch up together(they mostly yell at Sanju and me for not telling them where we were).

After lunch, Nikki and Arun come over, and our families love them. My dad scared the hell out of Arun, like all dad's do, but Arun was cool through it all.

Apparently, our parents had talked over the phone, and our marriage dates were set. My marriage was in a week, and Sanju's was the day after mine.

"Pelli panulu modalu pettali. Oka varame undi, chaala panulu unnayi." my mom says.

"We have to start the marriage preparations. There is only one week, and a lot of work." my mom says.

The adults nod in agreement, and we start making marriage preparations.
