" You seem distracted" spoke my lady maid and only friend, May after a long science

"I was thinking about the party," I replied equally as soft, she chucked and shook her head.

" I'm sure it will be splendid princess, I can't wait to dance, and drink, and eat" she had a dreamy expression on her face, a very un-ladylike snort escapes my mouth.

"you're excited to see all the young rich men. Knowing you I wouldn't be surprised if you bedded one." I wiggled my brows she scoffed playfully and we fell into a peaceful silence as she continued to brush my hair.

I looked into the mirror in Infront of me, I made eye contact with the endless cycle of colours that were in my iris. my eyes were not like anyone else in the kingdom, all fairies eyes where the colour of their element; for example, May had the most wonderful light grey eyes, the colour of air. My mother had deep purple eyes, the colour of magic. But me, my eyes are rainbow of colour constantly swirling and hypnotizing anyone who looks long enough. I quickly looked away and May sent me a look of pity.

"I heard Colonel William is coming back in a few days from Tobia ldona." She said taking my mind off my unfortunate eyes, my head snapped to her.

"you're kidding!" I exclaimed, she gave me a knowing look.

"I'm not, now sit till I'm trying to do your hair" she grumbled at the end. Then she gave me a curious look" why has the queen requested you wear commoners outfit?"

I gave her a quit shrug, my mother was a secretive person, and yet for some reason I never questioned her.

I rolled my eyes playfully and allowed my thoughts to wander about the mascaraed, my mother threw many balls, but she never let me come. She would tell me it's not safe but I knew there was another reason behind her excuse, but I let go of it. But this year she allowed me. I turned around and smiled at may

" Thank you" I said quietly, she giggled

"This is my job, talk, do hair, help you put on outfits, gossip about scandalous maids and handsome guards," she said with a teasing expression. As she helped me in a pastel purple cottage dress.

" Now tell me about this charming guard you met! Jared was his name?" I giggled sitting next to her on the small couch at the end of my large bed.

She smacked my head lightly and playfully glared at me

"what do you want Anemone" asked may in an aggravated tone. He rolled his light grey eyes at her
