Bells POV
I was just about to close my eyes and let my mind meander around the dark clouds of sleep that were weighing down on my aching body that was lying underneath my dark purple, red skull covered blanket on my soft queen sized bed when Dyran contacted me threw the pack link. His voice was scratchy and hoarse sounding it was filled with pain and fear which ripped my heart in half hearing just from the tone of his voice that he was in really bad shape.
'Jas, Rick and Bells I need you to help me please. I'm in the woods but I don't know where. I can't move. Please come help me.'
I launched out of my bed all thoughts of sleeping thrown out of my mind. Now the only thing that was in my head was getting to Dyran as fast as I can, praying to the moon goddess that Dy would be alright. I didn't even bother changing my pajamas for actual clothing because I thought it would take to much time plus there wasn't really any point to changing when I'm going to be in wolf form any ways.
I ran out of my room at top speed heading straight out my front door and sped out the door not caring if I woke someone in the house because of all the noise my combat boots were making on the wooden floors. I flew of the porch shifting to my honey brown wolf in mid air. Once my paws hit the dirt I was off to find Dy. The only thing that was keeping me and my wolf ,Sting, from finding whoever hurt my best friend and beating them until I felt satisfied that they were in enough pain was the immense fear of what would happen to Dyran if anyone found out that we knew about all the beatings and who was giving them.
I reached the tree line with in mere seconds and slid to a halt, waiting for Jas and Rick to show up. Jas and Rick met me at the tree line just a little after I arrived. We moved straight into the woods holding our heads high and noses out sniffing the area for Dyran's scent. A few feet in side the woods Rick caught hold of Dy's scent it was weak so he hadn't been here for a long time. We followed Dyran's scent deep into the woods behind one of the pack houses.
All of us knew the basic reason of why Dyran was calling us, someone had beaten him up again and by how week and low his voice was he was probably in a lot of pain. These days it seemed he was always in pain.
I met Dyran about five years ago when I joined this pack. He was closed off and insecure to an extreme. He had came out about being gay a few years before I got there. People looked at him like he had murdered someone I never saw him smile or laugh except when he was with Jas or Mark. One day I saw three people behind the pack house beating someone. I got closer and heard Dyran crying and yelling for help. I shifted and ran towards them, I tackled all the guys and bared my teeth at them looking like a rouge wolf on the hunt. After they left with a little persuasion I shifted back and walked over towards a balled up Dyran and held out my hand for him. He looked hesitant at grabbing it but after I smile he reached out and took my hand.
Ever since then we've been best friends and nothing was going to change that.
My wolf purred with anger from the smell that entered my nose as I ran. I could smell Dyran's blood and lots of it. All of us pushed our paws even harder into the ground moving faster than we were before. After two minutes of running at top speed we arrived to a patch of grass that held or little friend.
We all shifted back to are human form and just looked at or friend. Tears of anger and sadness filled my eyes as I looked over Dyran's still frail bloody body. He was so still I would of thought he was dead if I didn't hear his heart slowly beating. He had yellowish purple bruises all over him his lip was busted and there was lots of dried blood clinging to his pale skin. His clothes were shredded to an unrecognizable state.
Dy had never looked this bad after a beating before, just looking at him now made me wonder how much longer he would be able to take this before he broke and all his pain and anger came out in one big explosion hitting anyone in his path.
I looked at Jas and Rick seeing them in the exact same frozen state I was currently in. They both had tears glistening in their eyes just waiting to fall from the emotions surging through them all at once. I could basically feel the heart ache rippling off of them in waves. My wolf was whimpering at seeing Dyran hurt and broken like this.
I turned to face Jas and Rick,"Guys we need to grab Dy and get out of here, now." It took them a few seconds before they even realized I was talking before they came to their senses. Rick nodded his head in agreement and moved towards Dy with cautious steps. He reached Dy's body and slowly bent down to pick him up only hesitating slightly in the end. He pulled him into his chest securing him tightly but loosely. Rick held Dyran's limp body like he was a porcelain doll and even the slightest touch could brake him into a million pieces.
He moved over to Jas telling her to shift so she could carry Dy on her back. She did as she was asked after a few minutes of just staring at Dy's beaten blood covered body. She dragged her eyes away from his body and shifted into her ash brown wolf. Rick laid Dy lightly on Jas's back making sure he was in a position where he wouldn't fall of before moving away and shifting into his gray wolf. The two of them started to head towards Jas's house while I stayed behind and covered our scents and any trace that any of us were here.
After a few minutes I shifted into my wolf and ran straight for Jas's house knowing I would probably catch up with them before they got there. I joined back up with Jas and Rick right at the tree line. We trotted carefully watching Dyran with every movement we made. We had just laid Dy down on a long gray couch in the living room that Jas put a sheet over saying how her mother would kill us all if there was even a smudge on it. We sat down next to Dy when he started to wake up.
His eyes shot open and he thrashed around frantically unaware of his surroundings scaring all of us by his sudden movements. While trying to hold him down and calm him I looked into his eyes searching for that little light he always had burning in his eyes even after a brutal beating it would still shine, giving me hope that he will be ok. Fear started to rush through me as I looked at his eyes no longer seeing a light in them, only pain. A tear slid down my face while Dyran blacked out from moving around to much. I couldn't believe it was gone. The one thing that kept Dyran from leaving this pack was the hope of finding his mate it was the light that I always saw in his eyes but know I dont see that hope anymore. Something must have happened in the woods that would be able to brake Dyran's hope.
They made his light go out.
His light was gone.
