⑨Should I Be Scared?

“Okay, even you know that’s a lie,” Yoongi snickered as he got between the two and gently shoved Jeongguk back.

“No, it’s not. He is horrible.”

“Kook, come on, look at him. He’s doll-like beautiful.”

“Aww, thanks, Yoon,” Taehyung uttered in a baby tone as a beam flashed up onto his face, and he muffled him into a hug.

“No problem.” He gave him two taps on his back before Taehyung withdrew, still smiling warmly.

He redirected his gaze to Jeongguk, who was glowering at him, and maintained his smile but switched it to a jeering one. “You can say anything you want, buddy. I was just called doll-like beautiful.” He sent him a wink only to mock him some more, something that fueled Jeongguk’s worked-up condition.

He didn’t have a chance to respond as Hoseok came running then, and they exited the house in haste so they wouldn’t be late. But even if Hoseok hadn’t appeared at that moment, he wouldn’t have said anything because fuck, as much as he hated the guy, he was indeed doll-like beautiful.

It was when they got in the car when Taehyung noticed the white bandages around Jeongguk’s knuckles again and couldn’t help but ruck his brows in thought. “What happened to your hands again?”

“Same reason as last week.”

“Seriously buddy, when do you box? Am I the only one who hasn’t heard you even once?”

“First of all, don’t call me buddy. And second, stop getting into my business.”

“I’m just curious—”

“Don’t be. Simple as that.”

Taehyung tsked as he made a moue of disdain and sank back into his seat, crossing his arms over his chest and keeping his eyes away from him. Why do I even care?

Jeongguk decided to spend two of his breaks alone in need to mellow his mind and brace himself for the following day.

He couldn’t understand why Taehyung bothered to look for him and ask him why he didn’t sit with them. He couldn’t understand a lot of things about that boy. Why did he make efforts to get to know him? Why did he ask him every day if he was okay?

Jeongguk was nobody, as he thought about himself. He was just a ruined guy who couldn’t feel the things “normal” people could. He didn’t know about love, didn’t know how to be there for someone, hell; he didn’t even know what sleeping peacefully felt like.

Why did Taehyung waste his time trying to know a guy like him? He had no answer for that lingering question swirling in his mind, but he knew he was tired. He knew the guy for about a week, and he was already tired of his continuous tries.

He just wanted to be left alone. That was what he said to himself. Because that was what he wanted anyway, right?

Dark. Confusion. Fear. The boy gasped for air as he furiously blinked in an attempt to distinguish anything in that pitch-black place he was.

Pain. Madness. Blood. He braced himself as a sonorous cry flew off his mouth by the excruciating pain shooting up his shoulder, feeling something liquid course down his skin.
