The chipmunks woke up to the beeping of Simon's alarm clock.

"Great, school." sighed Alvin.

They also had to open the door to the person who was going to fix the hole in 15 minutes.

"At least you completed this week's homework!" said Simon, who was happy his brother had finally caught up with his math last night.

Alvin did not share his enjoyment.

"Another 5 days in this classroom with these kids." Miss Smith muttered mournfully under her breath.

"Alvin, in hoping you've completed last week's math. If not, you'll earn yourself a detention." she said clearly to Alvin.

"Nothing new." he muttered, just about audible to Miss Smith. "Yes, I actually have."

"Impressive, a student finished his homework." mocked the teacher, staring at Alvin over her pink-rimmed glasses. She inferred that Simon helped him.

Simon was poised with his pencil, ready and eager to start the lesson. And probably the only person there who was. Miss Smith hoped Theodore would at least look mildly interested, but he was more occupied by looking out the window and daydreaming.

She sighed.

"Everyone, quiet!"

The chatter continued at the same volume, if not louder.

"Or you'll stay in for an extra half an hour!!"

The chatter stopper immediately. It was a bit nerving that she had to resort to threatening for longer school days or extra homework to shut them up. But that was just how it was.

"Now, we begin math." she said.

"That was soo boring!" Alvin complained.

Simon rolled his bright blue eyes.

"Hey guys," panted Brittany from behind them, who evidently was trying to catch up with them. Her sisters were with her.

"Hey." Alvin replied unenthusiastically. He seemed a bit moody about them not returning their calls.

"Sorry we didn't return your calls. We are busy." Jeanette apologized.

"It's okay." Simon forgave her.

"So, what were they for?" asked Eleanor.

"We solved the next clue. And we're going to solve the other one it led us to today." Theodore blurted out. They were planning to let the chipettes down slowly, incase they were made at them for solving clues without them. It was also their journals stolen, too.

"What?! Why?! Couldn't you wait?!" said Brittany, flaring up at once.

"Britt, someone had to come around 8:30 in the morning to fix the brick and the hole."

"You guys have got a hole in your basement??" asked Eleanor, raising her eyebrows.

"So we tried to call you before you went out, but we were too late. So we had to do it ourselves before today. Which was tomorrow yesterday." added Theodore.

"Alright, reasonable enough." Jeanette stated.

"Yeah, fine. Whatever." said Brittany, seeming huffy. "So, after school?"

"Yeah. Dave's coming back tomorrow though, so it may be harder to solve clues. And will take more time." Simon said.

"Okay. Let's just speed up a bit with solving the next clues." Eleanor said.
