Ellie's POV
After a minute of laying there I grab my bag and pull my clothing out. As I neatly place it on the top of the dresser and run my hands over the material. My eyes glance at the door of the bathroom. My shower was ended earlier before it even began. It couldn't hurt to try it again right?
I step into the beautiful all white bathroom and walk to the expensive looking shower. The rain shower head and fancy buttons far surpass my knowledge of showers so I sat messing with the buttons until I finally found the correct setting. I check the temperature and then slowly, very slowly I step under the shower spray.
And as I let the water wash away the happenings of the day my mind drifts. I miss them. Their laughter, their silly conversations. I miss their sadness, their anger, and even their disappointment. There is not much I wouldn't do to be able to look at them and at least say a final goodbye.
I shake the sad thoughts away and quickly end my shower. I step out and comb through my hair. And eventually I put my pajamas back on. It's now 10 and I feel like I could run a marathon. I turn the tv on and sit at the end of the bed with the lights on. Golden girl re runs are playing and I find that they distract my mind for a little while.
Eventually I flip the lights off and before I jump under the covers I place the moon goddess statue on the bedside table. It's presence sends a calming aura throughout the room. After another episode I shut the tv off and surround myself in the pitch black. I stare up at the ceiling and I feel as if I'm being watched. To my right there is a big window, and when I look out into the night I see the dark forest and blood red eyes staring back at me.
I squeal and fall out of bed with a thump. When I peer over the bed to look again the eyes are gone. The next thing I know Milo has barged through the door, shirtless with pants sitting low across his waist. His breathing is heavy and his eyes frantically search for something.
His eyes meet mine and relief washes over his face. He quickly makes his way to me and helps me to sit on the edge of the bed. "What's going on?" He says softly bending down to meet my eyes brushing a piece of hair out of the way. "What happened?"
"I I saw." I swallow hard. "Eyes. Watching me." I nervously look away from him. "In the woods." His eye brows furrow and his eyes dull for a moment. Then they brighten again.
"Come on, lets get you something to snack on." He takes my hand and leads me down stairs. The lights are off all throughout the house. The only thing supplying any sort of light is a small light over the stove. Milo pulls out a chair at the island in the middle of what I can tell is a beautiful and humongous kitchen. He pushes me in and heads to the stove getting a pot and some milk. "Do you like hot chocolate?" He asks looking over his very delicious looking shoulder. I nod my head and give a timid smile. We sit in a comfortable silence as he boils the milk.
When the drink is done he hands me a mug and leans on the counter across from me. We share a small conversation as we finish up our drinks and then Milo becomes serious "Are you alright?" He asks quietly.
"It's all been... a lot." I say softly. "I guess it's all just catching up to me. I'm sorry to put you through all this trouble." I look at him and I feel my eyes filling with unshead tears.
" oh no no no. Don't do that. No no. It's okay! It's not trouble at all. I'm glad you're here." He quickly moves around the island and places his hand gently on my face. "I'm sure you are overwhelmed but trust me I couldn't be happier that we met." He smiles his big bright smile at me. And for a moment my worries disappear. A big yawn leaves my mouth and embarrassed I cover my face. " come on I think it's time for bed." With that he again leads me to the room I am staying in.
Feeling almost drunk off of lack of sleep I ask "Why are you so perfect?" And Milo chuckles.
"I'm far from it. But I'm glad you think so." He helps me into bed and pulls the covers up under my chin tucking me in tightly. He looks to the bed side table and notices the statue. "Where did you find this?" he asks with an incredulous look on his face.
" it's mine. From a shop in town." I yawn again. "The story of the moon goddess and the first wolf. Such a beautiful story." I say as I feel my eyes fluttering close. " you know.. I want that." I say as I drift further from reality.
"What's that?" I hear Milo ask with amusement.
"A forever." I say and then I slowly sink into the dark.
