I whip on some makeup, lightly of course, and put my hair up into it's usual ponytail. I slip into my converse and grab my phone, sliding it into my back pocket on the way out of my room.

When I close my bedroom door, I look down the hall to Alec room, instantly wondering if he returned home last night, feeling a pang of hurt in deep in my chest.

I descend the stairs and text Abby, asking where to meet.

"Have you got your camera?" Mum asks.

I enter the kitchen where she is and shake my head, "I don't want to take it with me on my run, I might come back and get it after."

Mum's eyes widen for a second but she turns her head back to her cooking before I can really see.

"Alright, good idea." She replies.

"Is Alec back?" I ask, my voice quiet.

She stops and looks at me, the movement of her whisking the eggs have let small pieces of hair escaping her messy bun, yet she still looks stunning.

She purses her lips and shakes her head, "No, not yet."

"Have you heard from him at least?" I ask.

She straightens her posture and wipes her forehead with the back of her hand, "I think your father has, that's why he left so suddenly. Look Callie, I heard the conversation last night, don't worry about him, he's being a fussy, mateless teenage boy."

I look down at my hands, "I know, he's just never acted like that towards me before, that's all."

She sighs, "Just give him a bit, you know Alec, he won't be able to stay mad at his little sister for long."

I look back up to her and nod, "Thanks mum."

She winks, "It's what I'm here for."

My phone buzzes and Abby tells me to meet at our spot.

"Okay, I'm going now. See you later." I say.

"Bye honey." She replies.

I walk out the door and don't wait to sprint into the forest, picking up speed before I shift.

Once I'm deep enough in the forest and going fast enough, I leap and shift mid-air, landing perfectly and pushing off with my strong hind legs, making me go even faster.

My extremely good instincts help me avoid trees, rocks, and branches, and before I know it, I'm already at the spot.

Since I'm the first on here, I shift back and roll onto my back, staring at the blue sky.

The lonliness and peacefulness gives me a moment of myself, and time to process that dream I had this morning.

Why was there blood on my hands?

Why was I wearing a white dress?

Why was I lost?

I shake my head, it was just a dream, or more like a nightmare. People get them all the time.

I hear paws thumping in the distance and I smell Abby before I see her.

She enters the opening and shift's behind a tree, pulling on some clothes before appearing.

She runs up and jumps on me before I can react.

I groan and try to push her off.

"Happy birthday!" She shouts.

"Thanks." I somehow reply, "Abby, you're heavy."

She frowns and rolls off me, "Love you too."

I just laugh.
