"paint it blue!"

"no! green is a much better color!"

"soobin, please paint it pink!!"

they all yelled to the young painter.

"i'll paint it...hmm,"

they all gazed at him with suspense.

"i'll paint it grey!!"

"GREY?! WHY??"

soobin giggled.

"no reason."

they all sighed and walked away, not sparing a glance at the gray heart.

choi soobin.

he was shy but grabbed attention.

he was the school's painter,

painting things from murals,

newspaper work,

and school artifacts.

they absolutely adored him.

and there he was, holding a paint brush.

standing in front of their school mural,

a grey heart painted right smack in the middle.

why'd he paint it grey?

no reason.

everyday,

kids would run over to him

and ask him to paint something for them.

whether it was a special occasion,

or some holiday

soobin was bound to astonish everyone with his paintings.

always.

but then the incident happened.

and suddenly,

he used to be let into the art room anymore.

he used to have access to art brushes or canvases.

he used to astound others with is paintings.

but now,

his hard work is nothing but some paint and paper.

they don't enjoy his paintings anymore,

his hours of effort.

turns out it was all useless.

they don't enjoy his company anymore.

whenever he'd sit by them,

they'd turn away.

or,

they wouldn't even pay attention to him.

he felt so

obscured.

vulnerable.

he felt oh-so lonely.

he felt like a ghost.

now,

he had a reason to paint it grey.
