~Chapter 5~

Thomas had decided to carry the little girl to her bed and let her rest peacefully. When he entered the tent that she shared with Brenda and Jorge with her asleep in his arms, he was immediately bombarded with questions

"Where were you?"

"What happened?"

"Is she okay?"

He shushed them and showed them that she's only sleeping. He put her to bed and went to his own tent that he shared with Newt, Minho and Frypan.

"Where were you?" Newt asked

"Bet he was hooking up with Teresa" Minho joked and they all snickered while Thomas gave them the 'seriously?' look.

"No, i was not. I was talking to Zara and she fell asleep so i just went and put her to bed." He explained and hopped into bed.

"You can't get too attached y'know, she's a kid, she's not likely to survive this. I mean we barely survived" Fry said sadly

"I'm not attached, she's just different from every other kid i've ever met. I mean how many 14 year olds have you seen that can balance on a beam and shoot a grown man straight in the head first try easily and calmly?" Thomas said

"Yeah i mean i get where Fry is coming from but she will survive. How many times has she saved our lives?" Newt added. They all nodded in agreement.

"I'm not sure about her though" Minho said

"Shut up your just jealous cause she's more badass and sassy than you" Newt laughed. 

"Well partly, but it just seems like she's too risky for a 14 year old. Like does anyone know her past? She seems like she has a death wish. Literally. Who taught her to use guns like that? And she doesn't get scared. It's weird." Minho explained his thoughts

"I have a weird feeling like i need to protect her. Maybe it's cause she reminds me of Chuck and she's a kid but i dunno" Thomas said

"I agree. It's like we don't know her a lot but I feel protective over her. It's definitely strange. Are you sure we haven't met her before?" Newt said

"I don't think so. Maybe we could ask her about her past. See if there's anything that hints at a relationship we may have had with her before our memories were wiped" Minho said

"Not likely. She doesn't open up. Apparently not even Jorge knows her full story. Brenda said that in the whole 3 years she's known her, she's never seen her cry. She has a guard up and we just need to know how to break it" Thomas said.

"We'll figure it out in the morning. I'm just tired man" Frypan said and turned the lights out.

"Zara wake up" Brenda slowly shook her awake. Zara got up and had seemingly forgotten about her wound as she immediately clutched her side and hissed in pain.

"Hey, your okay. Doctor said that it's gonna hurt quite a bit for the next couple of days. You just need to take it slow." Brenda smiled and helped Zara up. 

"Thanks" She muttered. 

They walked out to people sitting around the fire with sausages and bacon and toast. 

"Ah morning Hermana!" Jorge greeted her with a kiss on her head.

"Morning Jorge" She smiled gently and sat next to him.

"Can i interest you in breakfast?" 

"I'm not hungry, thanks though"

"Are you sure? You missed dinner yesterday"

"Yeah that's cause i wasn't conscious" She laughed a little. Jorge smiled and nodded.
