CHAPTER 1

Your POV

Me and my cousin Scotty were unpacking then I see him wave to someone so I look and see a boy across the street I am moving with my cousin scotty only because my parents were splitting and it was complicated

Scotty was mixing the chocolate mix in the milk and wanted me to come with him to his stepdads trophy room he knocks on the door

"Yeah" bill says

"um, Dad?" Scotty asked

"mmhmm?"

"I-I mean bill" I mentally face palm this is super awkward "remember you- you promised you'd teach me to play catch?"

"mmhmm"

"um w-well could you teach me?"

"yea.sure" Then there is an awkward silence especially since I'm literally just standing behind Scotty listening to the conversation because he wanted me to come with him

"okay"

"okay?"bill says with a confused expression

"thanks"And Scotty just kinda stands there and bill looks over "sorry" And as he was about to leave he peaks his head in a little

"Scotty come on" I whisper Scotty shrugs and walks away to his room and I walk to mine

~the next day~

Scotty had me come with him to who knows where "scotty what are we doing here?" Scotty didn't answer and walked away "why does he have to drag me into this?"

"Squints." The boy we had seen yesterday said

"I got it." One boy said which I'm guessing is squints had said going after the ball and catching it

"Nice catch" one boy said

"Yeah." Said the other

I head growling coming from the gate behind me I'm guessing scotty heard it to because he was turned towards the gate

"Watch out." One boy yelled out to scotty and I stand up out of the bush

"Scotty!" I yelled

And the ball comes at him and he falls all the boys laugh except one

"Okay, I'll get it!" Scotty says to them "get it don't be a goofus don't be a goofus. Don't be a goofus!" Scotty says to himself and we heard barking and growling come from the gate again and he gets scared and runs away from the gate I just assume it's someone's dog.

"We are waiting!"

"Come on! throw it!"

Scotty throws the ball and it doesn't land far and they start laughing and I run over to him

"My life's over." Scotty says

"Scotty." I say as he runs "Scotty wait!"
They were still laughing that was the last straw I grab the ball and throw it and one of them catch it "shut the hell up and leave him alone idiots." They all just stood there dumbfounded and I run after Scotty

~later~

My aunt aka Scotty's mom comes in the room

"Hey" she says

"Hi" I say back

"So have you made friends?"

"No not yet."

"Well just know I want you and Scotty to make friends ok especially Scotty because I don't want him to sit in his room all day like last summer and the summer before that ok?"
