Armin Arlert is a simple man. To many others, he comes off as a mysterious man with a nice aroma, but he's truly just a nice, simple man with no real complaints about the world. Armin's always calm, never voicing his emotions and thoughts when unnecessary — he's what holds everybody together, even if they refuse to acknowledge the fact. He may appear to have an 'innocent' face, but his nature is more vulgar and helpful than others imagine him to be. Never misinterpret the mindset behind a beautiful face, as that mindset either makes or breaks what unfolds around you.

Mikasa's character is complex as she's unpredictable, unable to fully comprehend how she is herself, or how others see her through her actions. Though she shares scarce scenes in the book, the littlest things she does hint at the struggles in her life. Nonetheless, the only way she's able to maintain her emotions is through the riches she's inherited. Riches she uses to enhance her life a bit more, suppressing her sadness that she can't seem to come to terms with. She may seem distant, but there's more to the woman that's sheltered from the people close to her; they're all on a different page in the book. How would you discuss the loss of someone, if the person you were talking to, has not lost someone in their life?

Sasha's character revolves around her emotions and the ways she interprets certain situations. Sasha's attentive, the first to figure out what it is that's going on, leaving people in the dark, sometimes, until they come clean, giving her the confirmation she needs to double-check that she's correct. Her character is interpreted as sweet, her demeanour as soft as a beautiful flower. But even beautiful flowers can be deceiving, plucking out the flaws in someone and presenting them in front of their eyes.

Connie's character is expressed as someone very simple. Connie carries a bold nature, that can instantly light up an atmosphere when needed. Connie's a light-hearted man, gentle with people's emotions, but unable to fully comfort them as he's unaware of how to react to certain situations. He wants to help out, but he can't help but find himself making jokes aloud to soothe the tension between him and others who are involved in 'the' tense situation. He's so simple, yet he finds it hard to find the simplest conclusions in his problems.

Y/n's character is heavily layered. She's always prone to confusion, unable to figure out what she truly wants, and what she doesn't, as she's been emotionally normalised into settling for less than she should have. Her character is heavily built off of sadness, confusion, anger — all emotions that contrast each other. Two emotions that she shows, that heavily contrast each other, are her happiness and anger. Her happiness and anger show how indecisive her emotions appears to be, and how they tend to dictate how she feels.
Y/n struggles to come to terms with how she truly feels about certain situations, and is unable to grasp the concept of what love or genuine affection is supposed to feel like from others, when needed. She tends to suppress her genuine feelings, leading her to overthink numerous strands in a situation.
At times, she retaliates with anger or tears from the complex stress she faces at times. The trauma that has been placed in you, mentally or physically, makes it hard for some people to come to terms with what genuine things should feel like. It normalises things that are perceived as negative to others who haven't been through something similar.
