Achilles loved scrolls.

He couldn't get enough of them, they were the greatest thing since chickens. When he wasn't doing schoolwork, he had his snout deep in a scroll.

Scrolls taught him everything he knew to this day, about what had happened with the SeaWings, and what had happened with Darkstalker.

Darkstalker.

The ghost story that was real. A name that sent shivers down his spine. His mother Vigilance, who was also the queen of the NightWings had let Achilles read a number of scrolls on Darkstalker, mainly because she could barely sate her son's desires for knowledge. At the current moment and time, Achilles was nose deep in a scroll about the mountain range known as Darkstalker's Teeth.

"Achilles!"

Achille's mother's voice called him from the parchment and daydreams, pulling him back into his dimly lit bedroom. It was soon to be sunrise, and Achilles had been up most of the night reading scrolls. His mother, the Queen, stood by his bedside.

"Did you forget yet again that you had school? Or to actually sleep?" Vigilance questioned, her arms crossed in front of her. That, plus the fact her tail was lashing back and forth, signaled to Achilles that she wasn't too happy with him.

Achilles realized what day it was and his eyes went wide, the reality that today was a school day soon set in.

Crap.....I forgot I had school today. What if I pretend to be sick? No, no. I called in sick last week due to all nighters....mum wouldn't let me.

"Uh- School? Didn't I drop out? The army's recruiting." Achilles tried, hoping this new approach would sate his mother's distaste. However, this wasn't what she wanted to hear.

"My only son is not joining the army!" Vigilance roared. Now she was angry.

Achilles flinched and tried to cover his head with his blanket, but the sheets were promptly ripped off of him, leaving him, along with the five other scrolls that were stashed next to his body under the covers exposed.

Vigilance left the blankets at the foot of Achilles bed, and then turned to the door. "You'll be up in the next ten minutes, down at the library for your classes. If you're late, I start burning scrolls. "

With that threat, she walked out of the room, leaving Achilles alone in his room.

You've really done it this time, haven't you?

Moons I'm in trouble....

Achilles shakily got ready, polishing his scales with a little bit of soap rock, putting on his many bracelets and rings.

It was time to begin the day.
