"I mean as long as you don't deliberately kill them you can't be sent to jail." He let out a sigh, the topic of possible crimes that I could commit was a long-running thought that he had that was always present in his conscious mind.
"And even if I do, you're bailing me out"
"Who said I was gonna do that"
"I did."
"What if I don't have the money?"
"Who said you needed money, crowbars, and seduction exist."
"Jailbreak it is then,' he said as we approached the entrance gate of the school.
"Oh did you hear, that some entertainment companies are coming to the showcase event?" Hobi said as we walked to our first class together.
"Wait really? Which ones?" you asked surprised since this rarely happened with our studio, as you throw away the trash from the snacks that have since been consumed.
"I'm not really sure, but I think that one of them was the company that I was going to audition for as my backup in case my first option falls through."
"Damn, this is a bad year to not be dancing in the showcase then." The showcase was an annual event that the dance studio puts on for the entertainment for the community and small town, it was a chance for its students to show off what they had learned over the year. Usually, only family and friends come to watch however it is opened to the general public, meaning that representatives from entertainment companies were able to attend to scout out young dancers who have the potential to make it big in the industry, however for this studio, in particular, it rarely ever happened.
As the two of you make your way through the loud hallway filled with classmates you hear the bell ring and causing many to quickly disperse and head to their classes. The both of you make your way to your first class together and quietly rush into your seats before the class starts.
Throughout the day, you go through the same daily routine between the classes, learning and revisiting the same material as the days before, and begrudgingly responding whenever your name was called whether it was for attendance or just to answer a question. Though you did well in school you never put any effort into your schoolwork. By the time lunch rolls around you feel exhausted and just want to lay down.
As you make your way out of the classroom with your bag, you make your way to the cafeteria to quickly grab something to eat before making your way to a bench in the outside courtyard. You set your bag down as you plopped yourself on one side of the bench and just relaxed as you enjoyed the warmth of the sun's rays shining on your face. The nice warm air was accompanied by a cool gentle breeze that made the unbearable building place you were surrounded by seeming tolerable and worth the agony of unwanted social interaction.
As you sit back with your eyes closed you feel a weight being rested on your head and pair of soft hands being put over your eyes, you smile knowingly. As the hands are removed from your eyes, Hobi sits down next to you in a similar manner. You watch him as he takes in the light of the sun, though it's almost as if he just reflects it as you watch him just positively glow with a smile.
"There you are my sunshine," you laugh at your previous thought. "took you a while to make it over here." he laughs as he begins digging into his lunch.
"Yeah," he says in between a bite, "A teacher needed me to run some stuff down to the office on my way to the cafeteria so I had to wait a while to pay for my stuff."
As the two of you talk about your day and how your classes have been going, you hear a small group of people from behind you starts to walk in your direction. You decide to ignore it as the both of you discuss some of the entitled rich kids and some of the shit they've been getting into over the past week or so. As your mid-sentence, a shadow looms over you, you watch as Hoseok looks up to see who's behind and then quietly tries to scoot back to the very edge of his side of the bench. You turn around to see a large group of guys with a large tub of liquid.
Before your able to say anything to them, they dump the contents of the tub, which turned out to be iced water, onto your head. As they have a hearty laugh about their actions.
As they walked away, they laughed and congratulated one another for reasons unknown to you. You sigh as you get your phone out of your pocket to make sure there was no damage to it, thankful that it was still fully functional, you run your fingers through your now wet hair.
"Why do you let them do that again?" Hoseok asked as he watched you attempt to ring out your shirt. except it was completely soaked through so there was no point.
"Because the one genius who came up with the idea is related to the landlord that owns the building the dance studio is in," Hoseok sighs and his soggy lunch and then to yours and picks them up and throws them away in a nearby trash can, "I can't risk the director losing the studio if I decide to tell this kid off." As he makes his way back to the bench, the bell rings signaling that lunch is over.
"And you know," you pause as you swig your bag over your shoulder, "a little water never hurt anyone. And besides, I have other things that I need to worry about. Our showcase is tonight, I have that to look forward to instead of this hell hole." You smile as the both of you rush off to your class together.
As the rest of the day seems to drag on for what feels like an eternity, the final bell rings releasing all the students who immediately leave their seats and rush for the door. You quickly make your to the gate and wait. As you look for Hobi, you see him as he exits the building. As soon as your eyes meet, you watch as he rushes over to you, you smile and swing an arm over his shoulder as you make your way off the campus.
