Humiliation

Cinder stared at her plate in horror. She lifted the napkin from her mouth and looked up to see the other world leaders, and a wave of unfamiliar heat coursed through her. She knew that she would be redder than Scarlet's hair and tomatoes combined if that she could blush.

"S-sorry," Cinder said. It came out like a squeak and apologized again. Then she turned to look at Kai, who was staring at her. Unlike Cinder, he seemed to be holding something in. His lip twitched. Cinder tore her gaze away from him and settled her eyes on Queen Camilla the Gossiper, their host. She looked at Cinder with a hint of disgust.

Governor-General Williams of Australia (AKA Too Old To Be Here) cleared his throat and tried to start up a conversation, but with no prevail. It was a bit awkward to talk after Cinders episode.
Finally, Prime Minister Kamin of Africa, or Kamin-the-pain-in-the-ass, said:

"Ambassador Selene, are you um, okay?" She asked from across the table, near the edge, while placing her fork nicely on her almost empty plate.

"Yes, I believe I am doing better."

"Okay, just making sure you won't um, die on us" A snort came from beside her that was poorly covered up coughing. Cinder turned to glare at Kai.

"Ha, what were we talking about before me..." Cinder said, trying to change the subject.
As the dinner went on, Cinder kept on replaying what happened in her head. She had choked on a walnut in front of the most influential people in the world. Cinder felt very humiliated at this and tried to eat again but seemed to have lost her appetite.

Cinder had coughed for what seemed like an eternity with Kai's hand on her back, asking her if she was okay. Do I look okay! She thought. And finally, after what felt like hours and hours of coughing (though her internal clock told her it had only been 3 minutes), the walnut cane out of her throat covered in her spit.

Cinder grimaced as all of the previous events came rushing back, only making her feel more humiliated.

When the dinner was finally over, Conder excused herself as fast as possible, making her way to the room she was staying in. With Kai, of course, but Cinder felt like sleeping and forgetting the terrible event. When she finally made it, Cinder flopped down on her bed and groaned on her pillow. That was terrible, she thought, and she tried to go to sleep without changing. Then the doors opened with a swoosh, and a figure plopped onto the bed.

"That was hilarious," Kai managed to say before he burst out laughing and retelling the story between breaths.

"Everyone was silent after you stopped and the look on your face," Kai continued laughing.

"It's not funny. It was terrible. It was the most embarrassing thing to ever happen to me. Ever."

"From my perspective, it was funny."

"Stop making fun of me."

"I'm not."

"Yes, you are."

"I simply am laughing at the sequence of events that played out earlier this afternoon," Kai said. Cinder lifted her head from the pillow and sat up so she could face him. He was lying next to her, hands behind his back for support, and looked at Cinder with humor in his eyes. Then, without warning, he leaned into her and pressed his lips on hers. She gasped and tied her hands around his neck so she could be closer to him.

Kai grabbed her waist and pulled her closer to his chest. He pulled away and hugged Cinder, her head near his heart.

"It was funny," he said, kissing her hair.

"Maybe to you, but not to me."

"Oh well."
"I think I'm gonna fall asleep."

"Me too; I might just stay here, though."

"Yeah"

"I love you."

"Hmm? Oh, love you too" Kai kissed her hair once again while Cinder drifted away into the depths of sleep.

I don't know why I decided to do two chapters ending with sleep, but... oh well. Hoped you enjoyed it!

(Ill try to post later today because I'm busy tomorrow, but we'll see)
