Hatred gave a sympathetic woman freely to a man of hatred. Out of lust and all of apathy.
I sat in the downtown library, absorbed in watching a raging psychopath argue with an old librarian. He was in his mid-twenties, well-dressed in a loose pair of taupe pants and a black hoodie. I could see the shape of his dick in the loose taupe pants. I shook my head. Why was I looking at the size of that man? I looked back down at my book.
Suddenly, I realized the temperature of the room had gone up. The air was full of hostility and uncomfortable shouts of uncontrollable anger. He was irate. She was afraid for her life.
I heard the librarian call him by name, "It's not in this week, Ramsay, and if you don't leave now, I will have you banned from coming here." Ramsay's eyes were bulging out of his head, and his snarling face was sharper than a knife when he took his book and knocked over an entire book rack.
The librarian called out, "You are banned from here on out. Leave now, Mr. Colten. Security!" Ramsay threw his books at her and left. His face was on fire with anger. People got out their phones to call the cops as the librarian cowered back. I just watched the psycho leave. It's not every day you see someone who has that kind of anger, the anger of a man beyond anger management's help. His face was unbridled acrimony and rancor. The librarian was hit with books, but she was never seriously hurt. Just afraid. Everyone was afraid of his unhinged lack of control. Well, the cops would be coming after him soon.
Who was this Ramsay? He had an enormous cock and a Cluster B disorder.
His gigantic eyes were a startling blue that bugged out when he got angry. His lips curled into a snarl, and he almost didn't look human. When he had been calm before, he was rather handsome. I barely remember what that looked like, though. I sighed and went back to reading my book. I realized that I'd never felt fear like that before, fear for her life and anyone near his brand of angry tirades. His eyebrows curled up at the edges like a cartoonish villain, but the real thing.
I went home to my apartment with the novel I picked out. I realized I was out of food. I put on my tweed coat and walked down to the corner grocery store in the middle of the wintry city. As I entered, I felt a tension in the air. I grabbed the few groceries I needed and walked to the front. The guy behind the counter was Dave. Dave was a dipshit, and yet he didn't deserve what was in front of him.
"I gave you the money, so you give me the food!" Ramsay yelled. He was in my neighborhood making another scene! Oh, my god. How could anyone be so dysfunctional? The apparent argument was that Ramsay's credit card was denied, and yet he still wanted food. It was escalating rather quickly, like earlier today in the library. I didn't like that feeling. I felt trapped by my fear. I didn't know how to de-escalate things, but I very much wanted to.
"Give me my food!" Ramsay raged at Dave, who was putting up his hands in fear.
"Not unless you pay!" Dave continued to argue. I didn't like myself for this, but I stepped up to the counter and laid down a fifty-dollar bill.
"Give him whatever he wants, Dave." Dave took the money, glad to be done with it, and rang it all up. Ramsay took his stuff and left the store in a huff. The look on Ramsay's face before he left stuck with me. Eyebrows that arched at the ends like a villain's. Oh God, what was that?
Dave asked me, "Why would you do that for such an awful person, Elise?"
"Sometimes awful people need help, too. I didn't want it to escalate either."
"That guy's a psycho. Did you see the way he looked at me? He was spitting on me as he talked." Dave was shocked.
"He was having a bad day, I believe." I was stirred up by his image hurting Dave verbally.
"That fucker is like that every time he comes in here," Dave told me while shaking his head.
"Oh, maybe I shouldn't have done that." I grabbed my things and waved goodbye to Dave. I would think twice before I ever went near him in a public place again.
