Chapter-12 (A promise)

Normal pov:

It was evening, you were outside the castle sitting on the grassy ground, a small beautiful pond was in front of you. It was a clear and deep pond the orange colour of the sky reflecting on the clear surface of it. A very peaceful place where you often come and relax.

You've been sitting there for a quiet long trying to relax and let go of the bad feeling that has been bothering you since yesterday. It was about tomorrow's expedition, yes a month has passed and the expedition was tomorrow and you felt like something bad was going to happen in tomorrow's expedition.

Whenever you're with the Levi squad, you didn't know why but they seemed to be seperating from you slowly even though they were by your side. It felt like the time where they would bit their last goodbye was near, as if they were leaving you forever.

You quickly shook the thought off and sigh closing your eyes. Then you slowly layed down on the ground and opened your eyes after few moments and watched the orange sky, the clouds were moving along the wind slowly. You stared at the sky watching the clouds slowly disappeared.

"There you are!" You heard a familiar voice, Gunther. "We've been searching for you everywhere and here you are, sleeping peacefully." Eld said as they both walked towards you. "Oh man, finally a place to sit and relax" Gunther said with pleasure as he sat down beside you.

Your eyes were still fixed at the sky, you moved your gaze and landed on their hands, the bite mark was still visible. You remember the night they apologized Eren for taking him in wrong way.

You sighed before asking, "Where are Oluo and Petra?" "They're in the second floor in the common room, arguing like old couple again." Eld answered and you nodded.

"We were also there but it was so noisy and also you were missing so we thought we'd find you and sit here" Gunther said as he leaned back with his hands supporting. "And you're already here" Eld added and laid down beside you to your left and Gunther hummed as he laid down to your right.

Three of you laid there in a comfortable silence watching the beautiful evening sky and enjoying the peaceful moment. Gunther took in a deep breath and exhaled through his mouth.

"I wish we can stay like this forever with no titans peacefully.." He said with his eyes closed.

"Especially with no old couple arguing about small things here and there" Eld added refering to Petra and Oluo, you and Gunther chuckled. Speaking of wich you heard Petra said "Oh you guys are so bad!" "Enjoying without us" Oluo said and you could probably tell both of them were pouting.

"Just when I thought we found peace -_-" Gunther murmured. You couldn't help but chuckle. Eld sighed before speaking "Why can't you just leave us be? We came out to avoid hearing your arguments. We're tired of your silly little couple argument" Petra gasped hearing that. "WHAT?!" you giggled before speaking in a cheerful tone "Come on join us"

"With pleasure!" Petra exclaimed ans she sat down next to Gunther's laying body, Oluo by her side. "Can't let her sit even a few centimetres away eh?" Gunther teased Oluo and three of you laughed as Petra and Gunther blushed.

The air was filled with teasing and laughter. You felt so happy that they're with you. They were always there when you needed, they never leave your side, always there to support you, never lets you down. You forgot everything about titans, this merciless world, all your pain, your sadness everything. You just wished for the time to go slower. They were like a family to you Like there's a saying goes 'Friends are the family we choose for ourselves'

The laughter goes down and a peaceful silent filled the air until you break it "Hey.. will you guys be okay tomorrow?" You asked softly staring blankly at the sky, a few stars appeared from far distance twinkling.

They all turned their heads to look at you, they knew something was wrong, you never ask such question before a battle begins "Why.. what's wrong?" Gunther asked a little concerned.

You sat up with a sigh facing you back against them "It's just.. I have a bad feeling about tomorrow's expedition.." you said hugging your knees "You all will be okay.. right?" you whispered and hugged your knees tighter and hide your face in your arms and sighed.

You felt Eld placing his hand on your shoulder "Hey.. don't worry we'll be fine" he said assuring you. You looked up ahead at the pond "Yeah, don't think so negetivly (Y/n) by the way we're gonna be in the safest position of the formation and above all that, you're also gonna be with us" Oluo added. "It's just another expedition right guys?" Petra asked. The others agreed.

'Why are they taking this so easily..? Or is it just the fact that I'm worrying too much?' you thought and turned around to face them.

"Promise me you all will return." You said in a stern voice more like an order looking at each of their faces with a serious expression. They all looked at you in surprise.

Gunther smiled softly at you and held your face and said "Don't worry (Y/n)" You couldn't help but hugged him. He was taken a back by surprise but then hugged you back. Then Eld, Petra and Oluo joined and you guys did a group hug.

"We promise (Y/n)" Petra said in a whisper. You squeezed them never wanting to let go as you close your eyes.. You suddenly felt very emotional and tears threatening to fall at the thought of loosing them and you closed your eyes tightly. "I love you guys.." you said barely above a whisper. "We love you too (Y/n)" Eld said before Oluo spoke up. "Yes our little Goblin" you all chuckled seperating from the hug.

You sniffed a little making them stare at you. "Are you crying?!" Petra asked in disbelief. "Hm? What? No..no no no I'm not" you quickly said turning your face a away. Petra placed a hand on your shoulder "(Y/n) don't worry, we will never leave you" she said reassuring. "You know we never break our promise right?" Eld said softly. "Except for the one time Oluo ate all of our cakes that night!" He quickly added lighting the mood in the air. You all laughed remembering the past memory.

"Hey! That wasn't me!!" Oluo said defending himself. "Oh wait! We promise we'll teach him a lesson for that, remember?!" Gunther asked playfully. "Oh yeah! I'm in!!" Answered Eld before they both started to tickle him. The air was filled with laughter.

"Oh hahahaha- Eld G-Gunther hahaha-sto- bwahahaha..." Oluo couldn't stop laughing. "Ok ok stop it both of you! He's gonna die!" Petra said laughing. "Oh look who's defending!" Eld teased.

You watched the four as you laughed, slowly your laughter goes down and you watched your friends..no your family with a smile as they teased one another. They mean a lot to you.
'You know we never break our promise right?'
But you forgot one thing that moment, the bitter truth: Promises can't be kept in a world like this..
