"i know you feel you need to keep me safe, but you need to be safe as well. put on your seatbelt." he looks at me with a funny look like he was amused and laughs the same laugh that makes me smile. "whatever you say mom," he laughs as he reaches to buckle himself in. he puts his seatbelt on while both of us are smiling like idiots barely able to take an eye off one another. eventually we got to my house and as i got out of the car stepping out slowly holding onto the door he quickly grabbed my hand pulling me a little back with force. it startled me how fast he reacted and when i realized his hand was in mine, i couldn't help but smile. his burning soft hands in mine holding on like it was his last time ever. "george.. promise me you'll be safe." he says giving my hand a squeeze. i smile a little at the gesture. "i always am." i say reassuring him. as i walk back to my door i give him a faint smile heading inside. he didn't leave till after i got into the house which made me smile even more. as i walked up the stairs i figured i should actually start reading my book i got earlier, considering it was already way later than i intended.
i get to my room silently closing the door, sluggishly getting ready for bed and change out of my hoodie and pants. since i left the heater on when i went to the store it was a little warmer than usual so i decided to just sleep in boxers. i pulled out my book at read for about an hour or so before reading something that made me stop and think.
"your burning hot, don't eat food, your strong, and you don't go into sunlight."
"i know what you are."
"..a vampire."
i replay those words in my head thinking for a minute before putting the book down and climbing to my computer. i decided to look up vampire legends because it had distracted my head enough to get me intrigued. i looked for about 10 minutes when i crossed an article about sightings in washington. exactly where i lived. sightings, legends, and disappearances of random people. the more i read the more it made sense and the more my brain started to puzzle together. they were burning hot undead creatures. filled with venom and hunger. feeding on human blood with inhuman abilities. they were strong. fast. each one of them had different abilities depending on how they died or got bit. they couldn't go into sun, and they were protective creatures.
the more i read the more i shake at my hands clicking off the sight. theres no way. he can't be.. could he? it all made sense. why he knew where i was, why he could read minds, why he was hot burning hot at the skin and never ate. it made me shiver just thinking about it but i wasn't scared. it was a different fear. he could of hurt me by now if he really desired to. there was a reason he wasn't and i was gonna find out. i crawl back in bed moving my book to my nightstand and just lay there empty. there was no way i was going to sleep. how could i anyways? he's a vampire.
about an hour later the clock read 11:00 pm when i started dosing off. the little energy i had made me come back to my senses when i heard a breathing noise from the other side of my room. i slowly open my eyes seeing a figure in front of me. he's tall and had blonde hair. i realize what was going on and widen my eyes leaning to my lamp to quickly turn it on. as the light pours into the room i look back to where it was standing and the figure is gone. it's just me empty and alone in my room. i put my hand on my head checking for fever not even believing what i just saw. my breathing was loud and i was startled from getting shaken up. i slowly turn my lamp off and lay in bed getting no sleep the rest on the endless night.
that wasn't the first dream of clay i had, but it certainly wouldn't be the last.
boy if i could have seen myself now, then.

when i slowly awake from my restless sleep i open my eyes to my computer turned on shining the blue light into the room. remembering what i soon found out yesterday i turned my computer quickly off and slow down my breathing not even realizing it changed in pace. i needed to clear my mind. make sure i wasn't going insane. i quickly got dressed and rushed out the door not even bothering to lock it barely shutting the door. i didn't know where i was going but i needed to leave. my destination was uncertain but here i was walking out into nothing. i needed to control my thoughts. go out and get a breather one might say.
instead of walking down the sidewalk as i usually did, i went behind my house and wandered into the wide open fields of grass. it was barely drizzling but i didn't care. the grey skies casting a gloomy shadow only made my mind foggier. i didn't even notice till my hair started dripping wet from the rain. i'd been walking for 10 minutes out and i decided to just wait for a minute with my freezing hands in my pockets. all i could do was look down with anger. if he knew i knew, what is he gonna do to me?
my head was spinning and running a thousand miles a minute. i didn't know what i was waiting for but i knew i couldn't keep going. something was holding me back. clay was. i could sense his presence behind me without even having to look into his eyes. i could hear his breathing try and match with mine. i look up staring off into the distance pulling out my hands out of my pockets to be free from their cozy cage. "your burning hot, you don't eat.." i take a breath and close my eyes, "you can read minds. you don't go out into the sun, your protective and you can find me anywhere. no matter where i am." i exhale and grip my fists together till their white when i hear a similar voice behind me.
"you know what i am george."
"say it."
"what am i george."
i open my eyes to the silence in the air. no rain. clear skies.
sunny.
i unclench my fists and turn around to look him in his eyes. bright bright green. glowing possibly. my breath is taken away by them. they are absolutely beautiful. they are peircing and if looks could kill, i'd be dead plenty by now.
"george."
i exhale and barly whisper.
"vampire"
"say it louder george." "what am i."
"you are a vampire." i slip out louder than the first time. "are you scared of me george?" his glowing eyes pour into mine not breaking contact once. "i wish i could say i was, but you wouldn't hurt me. no matter how much you want to." i say with seriousness clouding my eyes. he looks relieved, happy even. "i wish i could change you george, but i cant. your blood smell is like pure catnip. i've never wanted to bite somebody so.... so bad." he says quivering. his hands digging into his own grave. even if i was scared i knew he could contain himself.
"curiosity kills the cat one might say." i lightly say to him.
if only i wasn't so curious of clay, i wouldn't be here.
..if only.
