it was weird to think about. a guy i barely knew and didn't like was on my mind. more than normal. before i went to sleep, when i woke up, and then all day he would be next to me at school, talking. why can't he just go away,

or cease to exist?

i wake to the breeze in my room chilling my entire body. i shutter and close my window forgetting how cold it would be in the morning. i honestly wasn't feeling the best so i decided screw it i'll skip a day. it's friday anyways. extra long weekend. i groan and go back to sleep with a huge headache. i wake up 2 hours later a bit better rested and my head feeling better. i slowly get up heading down to get breakfast. at this point my stomach was just hungry for breakfast so i decided on my usual cereal. after nearly finishing it i decided i was full and went to go shower. i set down my clothes and walk into the warm water soothing my back. i get a little drowsy and start washing my hair and body keeping clay on my mind. i eventually finish my shower stepping out into the coldness and get changed into a jacket and jeans.

since i decided to stay home today i figured i would catch up on homework on my computer. i spent a few hours on the computer because i had to do today's homework as well. after i was finally finished  it was about 5pm. i nearly spent the whole day feeling like trash and doing homework. at this point i was feeling a lot better than i was when i woke up. since i had been on the computer all day i figured i thought i should get a new book because i finished my other one. i love reading, it's one thing that made me genuinely happy. every time i read i'm in a different world instead of this shitty one.

even though i wasn't excited to go outside i knew it was best since i hadn't been outside all day. i get on my shoes and grab my phone with my earbuds in and head out the door. i thought it was better if i walked to get more air. plus there was really no need for a car because the bookstore was only a 15 minute walk. i start heading out right before sunset, probably not the best idea but who cares. i was close to my house anyways so i didn't care all that much. about halfway there it started getting darker quicker so i decided to go a little faster. that made me get there a few minutes quicker so i was happy to walk in and be greeted with warmth and the smell of new books. i start heading over to the fantasy section warming up my hands in my hoodie. as i'm going down the isles i see a book that catches my eye. i pick it up and go through it, scanning the cover as well. it seemed to be about secret vampires which intrigued me. it wasn't something i read before so after about half and hour of looking i sat down and started reading it by the fireplace in the store to warm up. it was honestly a very good book that i was excited to keep reading but eventually i had to stop because it got to be 6:30 and it was pretty late outside.

i started out the door going home because it was later than i should have stayed out. i was taking the back way i found on the way there because it seemed to be quicker making me get home a bit faster. i was going down alleys for about 3 minutes when i was about to go down one more but instead finding a group of older guys there. trusting my intuition to stay safe i just decided to go a different way and started walking the other way. my phone had died on the way to the store so i couldn't listen to music to drown out the noises. as i was walking back i started to get the feeling of eyes on me. it got to the point where i was uncomfortable so i turned around to see if anyone was there and i saw the same guys behind me i saw in the alley way. i pick up my pace trying to get on busier streets to get them off my trail but instead it only brought them closer. i start speed walking through a parking lot eventually getting one to leave from behind me. as i was crossing behind a building the same guy and 2 others cut me off leaving me trapped between the 3 in front and one in the back.

i stumble back in shock nearly hitting the man. "your a quick little bunny aren't ya?" the one in front says to me smiling. my heart was racing and my eyes darted between the 4 nearly circling me. "please just let me leave. i want to go home." i say shaking. "but wheres the fun in that?" the one behind says. i quiver and start trying to walk away before they block me off. "where do you think your going?" one of them grabs my hand trying to lead me away. as i start resisting i was about to scream for help. my thoughts were running. i was shaking and nearly crying. i couldn't understand what was happening or what was going on but as i was about to try and run again, a car comes speeding into the parking lot. a pure black jeep. tinted windows. clays car.  the car sped into the lot nearly hitting the me and the guys in the parking lot. they quickly stop nearly letting go when i see him nearly jump out of the seat in the car.

"let him go right now before i cave your fucking face in." he says balling his hands in fists and nearly shouting. they soften their grip on my arms before clay says "get in the car george." i quickly run to the car getting loose of their grip, getting in and watching the situation unfold in front of me. he says nothing but gives him a death stare before the 4 guys shakily start running away. he gets back to the car pulling out in a rush never looking at me once.

"how did you know i was here?!?" i say confused and scared. he says nothing keeping the silence loud and my thoughts running.  he kept his head straight before nearly shouting "TELL me why i shouldn't go back and beat them till they bleed." i shakily sit there in shock not able to say anything but stare. he was going so fast i thought we might crash so i quickly stuttered "slow down clay, jesus christ we might crash." he nearly laughs at what i said only confusing me more and replying with "just stay seated and put on your seatbelt. i know what i'm doing." i follow what he says not trying to anger him more and strap myself in sitting quietly looking at his hands grip the wheel till they turn pale. he eventually pulls over with heavy breaths looking down before whispering "you don't know what they were going to do to you george. you couldn't read their minds." i sit there dumbfounded but get cut off by him saying "let's stop by a restaurant. you should get food in your body." he says while taking the key out of the ignition. i quietly unbuckle my seat trying to figure out what just happened. we walk inside the warm italian  place, him right by my side the whole time. "a table for 2 please" "of course sir right this way." as he asks for my table i just keep my head down and stay silent. we sit down and when he's about to talk i quickly say "what do you mean read their minds??"

"i was hoping you didn't hear that."

"well i did. what did you mean? how did you know where i was clay?" i say coldly

"i'm tired of you being so secretive. first it was you avoiding me at school and now it's you coming out of nowhere somehow finding me and saving me."

"what is going on clay." i whisper.

he looks up a little sad before replying in a whisper,

"i can read every single mind on planet earth except yours. and it drives me insane."

"what..?"
