Owen's pov

"Now I know why Jonas said we need to hope she will be mad," Lanny said

"yeah I prefer her yelling at us instead of her speaking in that sad tone," Jaxon said

"she is right you know," Luke said

"yes she is right, you made her feel like you chose her brother over her which you did and it was wrong, we are a family here and the team come in the first place, yes maybe it wasn't your place to tell her but at least tell me, I would have talked to Jonathan because I should know about any problems my team have. we would have figured it out." I said. I can't believe they did that they didn't even tell me, which never happened before

"We thought we are helping her," Lanny said. I know their intentions were good but that can't happen again. it's time to be hard on them

"you thought she couldn't handle it, just like she said, and you know it but look at how strong she is, don't let Jonathan cloud your vision because he is also blinded by his need to protect her but there is a limit to how much he can. he is only pushing her away by doing that, think about it, she didn't even told him she is joining the seals. maybe instead of listening to him help him realize his mistakes. If I was her I wouldn't have forgiven you, you need to welcome her, show her that the team is above all and she can trust you, but you showed her that if you will need to choose who to help, you will choose Jonathan. and that is unacceptable. the team comes first, always. her brother is a different story but I know that if she wasn't a girl you wouldn't have hide it from her but in reality, she passed a much harder training physically and mentally. I'm disappointed" I finished talking and looked at them they all have remorse look on their face. they know I'm right. good. I need to be hard on them this time in order for them to understand their mistake and not let it happen next time

"now, I know you, and I know you had good intentions, so talk to her and fix it, but not now, let her calm down she also have the Matthew thing in her head now. tomorrow we don't have any mission because we need to wait, so take that time and use it" I said and looked at them one by one in the eye they all nodded, after that, I walked out of the room towards the Cafeteria

I walked into the Cafeteria and saw her sitting quietly by herself and eating

"hey, Sky can I sit?" I asked. she turned her head towards me gave me a small smile and nodded

"We were wrong to hide it from-" I started but she laughed

"Jaxon was right you are a great Chief but don't take the blame for something you didn't do," she said. it made me smirk, she is smart much more than we give her credit for.

"They are my team, what they do is what I do and vice versa, not only when it's in front of the commander," I said

"My condolences," she said. I laughed

"I love it. being the Chief of course have its ups and downs but I couldn't ask for a better team. but maybe I could ask for a smarter one" I said and she laughed

"no but seriously, they are smart in specific areas but not when it comes to a girl on the team, we are all new to that, you will need to teach us. I'm not trying to defend them, what they did was wrong but don't give up the trust you have in them, let them earn it of course but don't give up on them, on us" I said. she looked at me and smiled

"I always wanted to be a Chief someday like my dad but I didn't have anyone to learn from because he died before he could teach and help me and now I can say I want to be like you," she said

I didn't know what to say, I was shocked, she only knew me for a week but that didn't matter to her, she was special. I didn't personally know her father but I knew the stories about what kind of person he was and you would think that there's always bad in a person and he probably had but the people who knew him always speak about him good and that is saying something about a person. now I could see what they were talking about the way she thinks and acts. most people not only a woman but a man too would have yelled and would be angry at this situation and she had every right to be but she wasn't she spoke calmly, she understood where they came from, I think she got that from her father. now I can also understand Jonathan better.
