Li: High fives to your smart sisters then!🖐 I think Anomaly worked perfectly. It's eye-catching and really delves into the story.
Ke: I'll be sure to let them know. 😊
Li: Moving on, tell me about Beck.
At first, I thought he was an old man. Then boom he turned out to be a cute guy, though technically you haven't mentioned about his cuteness😁I like cute guys😁
Ke: 🤣 She said cute guy. 🤣
Well, according to the time in the story Beck really is an old man. But he, like the rest of Strangeville, got stuck in time.Li: Waoh😰
I thought the stuck in time thing he mentioned was just talk😱
I didn't think it was real!Ke: 😂. It is real—because of his curse.
It explains why he's supposedly young in the story.Li: Ah! I see you are being really protective😂
You don't want to spill any secret😂😂No wahala😁
Let's move on,
Who is your favourite character?Ke: I've never really thought about this because I see the main characters—Beck, Ava, and Anna—as equals.
But when I was writing, I preferred to write from Ava's point of view. That's 'cause it took a while before I changed the story to her view, and when writing her pov, I felt like I was getting close to the end. Even though it was mostly Beck and Anna's pov that revealed most things in the book, I still preferred Ava's.Li: Awww, I actually preferred Anna but then yeah Ava's great too.
So what scene was your favourite to write?
Ke: The last scene. It was a scene of relief for me because I had finally written everything I wanted to for the book. My mind could finally be at rest for Anomaly.
Li: I understand that feeling
So what scene proved really difficult for you?
Ke: The scene when Anna met Annika, which was connected to Ava's vehicle getting an accident (in Anna's pov). Even after I had written the draft, I had to rewrite those scenes several times.
Li: Ooh, which reminds me
You seem to have a thing for alphabetic names like Anna, Ava, Beck
Was that a coincidence?
Or you planned it?🤔Ke: 😅 I don't, trust me.
It's all a coincidence. I feel it's appropriate when the characters are trying to express their feelings with another character's name.
In the play, those weren't the names used. I changed the names when I decided to change the play to prose.Li: Lol😁, I actually love your choice
So as a female writer, do you think it was hard expressing Beck's feelings for example?
Ke: It wasn't hard for me to express Beck's feelings. He's human, just like women are. The only difference is the gender and certain characteristics that comes with each gender.
Li: Hmm, that's cool
So tell me about, any funny moment associated with the time you wrote Anomaly.
Like a funny thing that happened during the course of written it.
A guest of mine claimed to be writing in the toilet for inspiration😂😂😂
Ke: One situation is when I talk to myself. I'd be in the midst of people who are either seriously engaged in a conversation or who are quiet and doing their own thing.
Then out of nowhere… Boom! I have an idea for the story and what follows is a "Yes!" said out loud and my hand up in the air in excitement.
Then, they'd look at me with a face that reads, "What's with this one?" I'd have to apologize though still smiling to myself. And then I'd continue talking to myself about how things should play out.Sometimes, when I wake from a dream I'd be like, I'd add it to my story because it feels so right. In the end I don't use it 'cause I don't even remember it. 😅
Li: Those are the most heart breaking part of sweet filler dreams😫
We have come to the end of the sweet interview👄
Do you want to give a shout out to anybody or persons?
Also, please recommend a book you feel is too dope to be ignored.
Ke: Yeah, I do. I want to appreciate therhymequeen for starting the book with me.
I'd also love to appreciate _d_e_s_i_g_n_e_r_ for reading it and giving feedback (even though I practically forced her to 😁).
