TW: storming of the Capitol Building
Please be civil in the comments.
January 6, 2021
Six days into the new year
And everything's already going wrong.
Democracy is in doubt,
Leaders shout lies.
The Capitol is captured
By self-proclaimed "patriots."
Flags fly in front,
Red and blue X's slashed across.
"Make America Great Again,"
they shout,
But when was it great before?
Officers call for order,
Pressure the president
To appeal for accord.
"Step up," he is told.
Be the leader we need.
Fulfill the oath you swore
To do what's best
For the good of the country.
But the only good he ever does
Is for himself.
