"Ok, now that's done, I'll come to the till with you and scan that book through so you can pay."
"Ok thank you."
Kennedy did what she said she'd do, and the woman left without saying if she'll be back to buy more books, like other customers usually did, but she didn't mind.
She then continued restacking the books and carrying piles of them to the shelf they were meant to be at.
All of the sudden someone said:
"BOO!"
Kennedy jumped and dropped all the books.
"Ugh, seriously, again?"
She turned around to see that it was Nick who made her jump.
"Are you serious Nick? You don't show up for hours but then turn up and make books go everywhere by making me jump?"
"Yep."
"Well at least do some work."
"Fine, I'll help you pick these up."
"Where've you been these last couple hours anyways?"
"You know, the usual."
"So nothing?"
"Pretty much!"
Kennedy was tired of Nick always doing nothing and being pessimistic about everything, that's why she broke up with him, but they remained friends as he just so happened to be her co-worker.
"I'll pick these up, you go restack some of the shelves"
"Alrighty" he responded in a calm demeanor.
"Hey, were you just flirting with that customer?"
"What?" Kennedy said shockingly.
"I swear you were flirting."
"If I was, I didn't mean to, I'm straight."
"Fair enough, but it was flirting."
"Yeah yeah, whatever, get back to stacking."
"Fine."
Soon enough, Kennedy's shift was over and she could finally go home.
She walked back to her flat. Home. She tiredly put her keys in the little dish by the door, kicked off her shoes, turned on the TV, and slumped on the sofa.
Eventually, she got up, and changed into her pyjamas so she was more comfortable.
She lay in her bed, finally comfortable and said:
"Finally. Sleep time" and soon went off to sleep.
Morning soon came, and she had yet another day of stacking and restacking books and shelves to do, although today wasn't as bad as she only had a couple hours shift, instead of a long labouring day like yesterday.
"Morning Katrina!"
"Huh?" Katrina couldn't hear her as she had earphones in. She took one earphone our and said "What did you say?"
"Oh, I said good morning."
"Oh, yeah morning to you too. Remember you have a shorter shift so you can go at 11 today."
"Ok thanks Katrina."
"Yeah." She proceeded to put her earphone back in and continued to listen to JLS songs.
Time passed quickly for a change, and Kennedy's shift was over.
"Bye Katrina."
"Yeah yeah. Bye."
