Nini's mom were on a dinner date that their couple therapist suggested. Nini and Ricky were at her house, on the couch, watching how Jake Peralta was doing his epic monologue to catch a killer. One of the young couple's favorite episodes, but neither of them were paying attention. Nini paused the episode and turned to Ricky, who had a nervous look on his face. She grabbed his cheek and started doing soft circles with her thumb. He closed his eyes, relaying.
"Neens, I have to tell you something."

"Okay, but I have to show you something first." She grabbed her phone and put a video of her singing. He grabbed it and smiled. She wrote him a song. One of his favorite things about her was her passion for music. He smiled and looked at her, she was nervous, more than she thought she would be. Seeing him smile made her relax a bit. It felt nice until his smiles disappeared and she saw how his eyes started to fill with uncomfortableness.

"I guess I'm saying I don't not love you..." The room was filled with silence for a couple of minutes, while Ricky was watching the now locked screen of her phone. She realized it was a mistake. What she didn't think it was enough for him to do that.

"Ricky it's okay if you are not ready to say it, I just thought it was time for me to say it to you!" She tried to calm the curly boy down, while he was grabbing his things.

"I know, I know, I just- I think we should take a break."

"A what?" No. This couldn't be happening now.

"Yeah, you are leaving for like a month for camp and I'm going to stay here. Maybe it's good, we should live our lives outside each other." Why did he do that? He didn't want to take a break but the first thing that came up to his mind when she sang that, was that photo of his mom and her new boyfriend. Nini inhaled and exhaled. And she did the right thing to do after hearing that.

"No Ricky. We are a couple or we are not. I don't buy the whole "we are on a break" thing. If you want to do this, we are done. You need to break up with me because I'm not going to spend my life waiting for you. It's not healthy. Be a asshole and break up with me because you don't have the balls to tell me what the hell is going on with you!" Tears were streaming down her face. For a moment she thought he was going to hug her and tell her that it was alright, that they were okey. But it didn't happen. He did the thing he always promised himself he would never do. He broke her heart.

"I'm sorry, I have to go." She heard the sound of the door closing and broke down.
