"can we talk" jake started, pulling mina away from her friends and family. he took her his car, which he drove her in. he locked the doors and gripped the wheel. "um... i just, are we gonna.." he paused to think
"what?" she asked very confused
"are you gonna leave me? if you are just get it over with" he sighed after blurting his out thoughts. it was a question he didn't want to ask but felt like he needed to. though he never said so, jake was madly in love with mina. he was annoyed though, she wasn't being as talkative as she usually was, she didn't tell him her problems anymore, being distant.
"no jake i just.. feel.. stress. i mean my dad just died and now i have to figure out how to support my mom and i.. i don't know. everything is going to shit, i'm scared. you don't give me anything either, how am i supposed to call you my boyfriend when you do absolutely nothing? god not everything is about you jake!" she started to yell, as she was extremely distraught.
"nothing is ever about me! it's about you, it's always about you. how many times have you asked me how i am mina? huh? not once. i ask you every single day. this is so one sided. i do everything for you and with you in mind, are you joking? you're always screaming at me, i'm sick of it" he was crying by this point, half upset with the situation, half feeling bad for yelling at her. mina also felt bad though she wasn't feeling the need to stay and talk to him. she left the car and made her way back to her mother and hugged onto her.
"jake just yelled at me" she said holding back tears
"he what?" her mother stood up angrily
"no, leave him alone. he will apologize eventually. i hope" she muttered. heeseung sat disappointed

jake, after speeding to his fathers san francisco home, rushed inside and straight to his dads room. he immediately swung the door open and started speaking
"i need money for this weekend."
"no" his dad answered simply.
"no i need it,  i need to get mina alone. i need to talk to her and be there for her, i'm a horrible boyfriend dad."
"so what are you asking for exactly?"
"well there's an oceanside hotel that i want to take her to, i've been looking at it for a few days. i wanna take her. maybe distractions is what she needs, i just don't want her to leave me. please dad."
"okay, only because i think she's good for you." his dad opens their banking app and sends a few hundred dollars to jakes account, jake hugged his dad and went to his room, making a plan of what they'd do over the weekend. he wrote the makeshift itinerary down in his notes app with prices set next to each item on the list. once he finished he texted heeseung

to heeseung: hey i have a plan i'm gonna take her to venice beach friday after school, i booked a hotel for friday and saturday and i'll take her to dinner once we get there, sorta decided we needed alone time, just be ourselves away from our lives here in san francisco. i hope she likes it.

from heeseung: i think she'll love it jake, i think she'd really appreciate that you're doing this for her.
from heeseung: by the way, mina got her cousin yuna and her friend jay to go out on a date. so that's pretty dope. :)

after the text exchange with jake, mina tossed her phone onto the air mattress and plopped down onto the covers
"is everything okay?" hana asked from the bed
"yeah i'm just sick and tired of that man.. god i think i'm in love with him but.. i wish i wasn't"
"mina don't say that"
"it's true hana, he makes me feel.. angry.."
"you're just stressed, he's doing the best he can to help you"
"is he?" she sighed and shut the light off, the room went black after she clicked the nightstand lamp off. "goodnight hana" she said before crawling under the covers and dozing off

jake called hana friday morning before school
"after classes are over come to my house, pack a bag with a couple outfits, no questions just do it please." he hung up leaving the girl extremely confused though she complied anyways, packing a bag with enough clothes to last the weekend, including a couple of cute outfits since she didn't know what was happening. after her 4 classes had come to an end, she drove straight to jakes house, he hadn't gone to school. upon arrival, she saw jake in his car, in the very back with the back door lifted, he was wiping off a red blanket then pressed a button, exposing fairy lights when the sound of her car pulling into the driveway next to his caught his attention. he closed the trunk and walked to his girlfriends driver door, opening it for her, then leaning forward to place a kiss on her forehead.
"jake what is going on?" she asked, placing a hand on his cheek and looking into his eyes
"you'll see" he pulled her hand and put her bag in the backseat next to a pillow and a small blanket which was all next to a box of food. he opened the passenger door for her "get in" he flashed his toothy smile at her and closed the door after her once she got into the car. he sat in the drivers seat and pulled out of the driveway, starting the nearly six hour journey. he handed her a water bottle from the pocket behind his chair "drink, i want you to be healthy". the girl smiled as she took the bottle from her boyfriend's hand. the drive was filled with laughter, singing, snacking (mainly by jake), and a nap for mina. they arrived to the hotel and jake locked mina in the car as she was still sleeping and he didn't want anything bad to happen to her as he checked into the hotel. he took the bags up to the hotel room. mina awoke as jake was gone and she admired the hotel
"wow.." she said softly to herself. jake sat back in the car
"hey beautiful. it's almost 7pm, you up for dinner?" he asked with that sweet australian accent of his, which just earned a shy nod from the girl.

once at the restaurant, the two sat down and ordered their drinks then looked at the menu.
"tell me what you want and i'll order for us" jake said softly and mina nodded. she stared at the menu for a while then silently pointed to a soup. "that's it?" he asked her and she nodded in response. when the waiter came back he ordered their meals and leaned back in the seat "you look so cute" he said admiring the girl in front of him.
"thank you" she said with a giggle.

after dinner jake brought them back to the hotel, he patted the bed for her to it and she sat. he pulled his laptop out of his bag and opened to netflix turning on her favorite movie, though he wasn't planning on watching it. she watched it intently and quietly spoke the script as if she'd been there filming. the boy started to slowly rub the exposed skin of her thigh
