4 - did not mean that to happen

Buzz. Buzz.

My phone light up and saw that I got a text message from Aizawa and I smiled softly. He was like a surrogate father to me, even though my dad is still alive and is still very much active in my life. It's just that Aizawa knew what I felt and what I was going through when I lost my mom back when I was a student at U.A. I still remember the day when he told me the story about Oboro. Oboro was one of his close friends when they were seventeen and still in U.A. They had work study together and during one of the mission, Oboro died, and since that day, Aizawa hasn't been the same.

I put the feather in my pocket and grabbed my phone, unlocking it in the process.

From Aizawa ✏️:
Look at my new cat

Attached to the text was a photo of a very stoic Aizawa holding a very cute but scared cat next to his face. I couldn't help but laugh at the cute picture. Funny thing is that this wasn't the first, and it won't be the last, time that he has sent me a picture of one of his cats. At this point, I'm just surprised that Aizawa still has room in his apartment for them. After replying to him, I got up and stretched out my arms and legs and remembered Fat Gum's wise words of wisdoms.

You can't work on an empty stomach.

I left my office and saw Aimi typing away on her computer. Music was softly playing form the computer and Aimi was humming along to it.

"Aimi," I gently called out to her, not wanting to scare her. She quickly got up, thinking that I was going to ask her for a favour, but I told her that she could sit back down. "I'm going to buy some [insert your favourite food here]. Do you want me to buy you anything?"

"Oh!" Aimi's cheeks got red. "Miss H/N, you don't have to buy me anything."

"I insist."

She kept on asking if it would be alright, and I kept ok insisting that it was okay. Finally, Aimi told me that she wanted some yakitori. I was about to leave the agency, but stopped dead in my tracks. Aimi must have known why I stopped since she wrote down the address and phone number to the place that sells the yakitori. With a final thank you, I finally left the agency and walked down the street. Thank the gods for Aimi. She's been my saving grace ever since I've moved here. I pulled out my phone and called the restaurant to place an order for yakitori.

After picking up my own food, I took out the piece of paper again and searched the address on my phone. Luckily, it was only a seven minute walk from here, and honestly, the more time I spent outside my office, the better. Maybe I can finally clear my head. While I was walking down the street, I've noticed a pro hero across the street. She was surrounded by fans, taking pictures with them, and enjoying the attention.

I wonder how they do it. Whenever I think about being the centre of attention, nerves run throughout my body and my heart would start racing. Did my mom liked the attention? She always seemed comfortable in the spotlight, but did she get anxious? I wish I could ask her. Seems like I got lost within my thoughts since I didn't realise that I already reached the yakitori place. I paid for the order and waited for it.

"Baby bird!"

My heart immediately skipped a beat from that familiar nickname. And that familiar voice. He's probably talking to someone else. It's not like he'll remember me. Wow. Okay. Why did that disappoint me?

Hawks chuckled. "I'm talking to you, Y/N."

Y/N? Y/N? Me? Is he talking to me?!

I turned around to look at Hawks, not really sure if I heard that right. When our eyes met, his cheeks got red and his eyes widen. Hawks looked away and cleared his throat. One of my eyebrows rose, being skeptic all of his mannerism. Why is he acting like this? Hawks returned his attention to me and his signature, perfect smile returned.
