"Just give us the girl, we won't trouble you anymore." One of the men said.
"Challenge accepted then, because, she's going nowhere with you. I will never allow that." Lucas replied instantly, wiping his blood stained mouth.
"You don't want to do this." The rouge said again, panting hard.
Suddenly, Lucas lunged forward in the blink of an eye and slit the man's throat with his claws eliciting a loud gasp from the rouges. The rest of the rouges took to the bushes in escape, Carter wanted to give pursuit, but Alexa held on to his hand. The night was once again silent, as the group stood in front of the car, with their eyes scouring the road and bushes for any threats, amidst the dead bodies scattered around. After a while, Lucas went back into the car and started it up, the headlamps shone brightly on the road, giving a vivid image of the bloodied road.
The drive to the pack was silent and suffocating for Camilla, her mind was flooded with worries. They got to the pack in the dark of the night, it was almost silent except for the chirping of the insects and the slight murmurs emanating from the pack house. The mood inside the pack house was reflected in the ominous silence hanging over them like a bee hive. Members of the pack's council were all scattered tiredly on the cushions in the living room, with Robert being the only one on his feet.
Olivia's sleeve was ripped and bloodied and Lena sat beside her, tending to her wounds. Riley's face and body were smudged with blood which made Lucas worry with concern.
"It's not mine, Lucas." Riley said, after she saw the look on Lucas's face.
"You should get that to the hospital." Camilla said, kneeling in front of Olivia.
"The hospital's packed up." Lena replied. "It's not that bad, I'll take care of it." Lena said, then she pulled Olivia up and they exited the room. Bill and Riley followed.
"Hey." Lucas greeted Robert. "Where are Justin and Steve?"
"They chased some of the rouges into the woods." Robert replied. "How was the trip?"
"Good. It was good. How bad is it? The attack?" Lucas asked, standing uneasily with his heart thudding loudly and Camilla beside him.
"We were able to contain it, but we got about thirty warriors badly injured, no civilians injuries were recorded, it was night time and most of them were inside."
Lucas sighed.
"I'll be inside, Carter." Alexa said.
"I'll see you at home baby." Carter replied, then he gave her a soft kiss on her forehead, then Alexa left the room, after giving Lucas a supportive pat on his back.
"Can I talk to you?" Camilla asked, facing Lucas.
"Sure." He replied. Camilla dragged him towards the counter.
"I have a uhm . . . a suggestion of some kind. I know it's probably not the right time, but I think it'll help a little bit and I've been thinking of it for quite a while." Camilla said.
"Camilla, whatever you want to say to me, you're free. Anything."
"Well." Camilla cleared her throat. "The unused land between the two pack phases is actually one of the reasons the rouges find it easy to get into the pack."
"Yeah, I've been thinking about that, but we have no idea of what we could use the land for and I haven't had time to sit with Robert, I know he'll surely have a plan." He paused, rubbed his hand over his forehead, "Or do you have a plan for it?" He asked Camilla.
