It was another boring day. I needed to go to school. I also needed to eat before I went.

I had to eat something. I am always skipping meals and that is not good for me. I smelled bacon downstairs. Hmmm...  Ma was always a great cook.

I followed the smell from my bedroom all the way down to the kitchen. Ma is always cooking. She likes cooking, but not as much as she likes eating. Her food tastes marvelous and she knows it. She just likes compliments, but who doesn't?

I grabbed my slippers and put them on my feet. I stretched after I put them on. "There you are." "Here I am." I mumbled. I grabbed the plate that she handed me, and I sat it down on the table.

I chomped happily on the bacon. My stomach growled in delight. "Good, huh?" "Mhm." I mumbled again. I was already done with breakfast by the time Ma was washing up the dishes. I was already on my way to get ready for school.

I walked into the bathroom to brush my teeth. After that I washed my face. Put my socks and shoes on and I was out the door. I grabbed my bookbag and said bye to Ma. I was already dressed for school. I felt bad leaving Ma alone. She will be fine.

She doesn't have to work until later on this evening. I know it has been hard on her since Pops died. We both miss him. He was battling pancreatic cancer. "Keyon!" "Aye! Keyon!"

I turned around and it was my best friend. "Hey." He ran up to me; and we did our secret handshake. "What's up, man?" "Nothing, much."

I shrugged. We were silent on the way to school. Tyreek and I always walked to school. It has been that way since elementary school. Luckily, we only lived a few blocks away from the school.

"Want to come over my house after school?" "Sure." I answered. I liked going to Tyreek's house.

It beats being home alone waiting for Ma to get home. Tyreek has a lot of people in his family, so I mainly spend most of my time at Tyreek's house. It has been that way for years. We made it to school. I waved bye to Tyreek.

We only have one class together and that is last period. The bell rang, and I walked into my first period class. It was time for my Algebra 1 class. I hate math. I've always had. My teacher came in. He has a name that I cannot pronounce, so I am not going to try that.
