Chapter 48: An Old Foe

Start from the beginning

Still that didn't seem to bother him which only spoke highly about him. He helped me search the backyard both of us completely drenched and hardly able to see. Due to the storm the lights had gone out. We only had one flashlight that worked so we searched for the kids together.

"Mommy! Mommy! Stranger is taking Lance away!"

"NATASHA WHERE ARE YOU!!?" I shouted after her trying to follow where her voice was coming from.

Suddenly Xander shoved me to the side causing me to slip and fall on my back. The hit was strong that I couldn't move. I pointed the flashlight to where he was running too and noticed a short man with a big belly had a hold of Lance. Peter kept throwing pebbles at him to make him let go.

It was all happening just right outside the front yard. Natasha fell on her knees next to me worried that I was dying. She cried by my side begging for me to not leave her alone. I couldn't believe what a few minutes of shut eye had caused. I felt guilt wash over me and felt completely powerless. I couldn't move nor could I save my own child from a disgusting human that abducts small children.

I could only hope that Xander was able to teach him a lesson. One he wouldn't forget. I kept thinking over and over again if I hadn't called him. If we were just few minutes late. I didn't want to even imagine what might've happened to my little Lance. I cried silently while trying my best to move but still couldn't.

I heard the loud cry from that bastard begging for mercy as Xander beat him senselessly. Both Lance and Peter ran to me and hugged me tightly. I told Natasha to get both of them inside the house. After a bit of hesitation they all left taking the flashlight with them.

Suddenly I heard a loud gunshot that echoed loudly around the entire neighborhood. "XANDER!!" I frighteningly shouted. A neighbor must've heard everything and called out another neighbor who happened to be a cop.

After a huge commotion the cop finally took the kidnapper away in handcuffs and an ambulance arrived to aid both Xander and I. According to the cop that bastard had already attempted to take another little boy just a street down from where we lived. After failing he was walking by our house when he spotted both Peter and Lance watching the lightning from the doorstep. My stomach turned to know perverted monsters such as himself existed in the world.

"Are you sure you're okay?!" I worriedly asked Xander while an EMT wrapped his arm in a white bandage.

"For the last time Jade it was only a scratch I'm fine I promise" he replied with an assuring smile.

"Xander I am so sorry I got you into this..It's all my fault"

"Hey if I wasn't here all of you would've been in great danger...I'm glad you called me"

He held my hand and kissed it while I sweetly gazed into his eyes.

"By the way I'm sorry I pushed you..I didn't mean too but I had to react quick"

"Are you kidding me? My back is the least of my worries..I'm only thankful you were here to save the day". I held onto his hand tightly letting him know I meant every word I said.

From that point on Xander became a Hero to my children and to me he turned into a shoulder to lean on and a loving partner. Xander Riley had become part of the family and a Father figure to my twins. They both loved him dearly. If only I was able to love him as much. At least how he deserved to be loved.

"So guys I was thinking about going to the party Frenchie is throwing..How about we all go?" Aria asked while the rest of us munched on some juicy fresh watermelon.
