I finally felt us slowing down a while after we'd left. Alexander stopped in front of a house that looked abandoned and he put me down as soon as he did. Jacqueline stopped right behind us and when she did, not even one hair in her head was out of place. I almost fell on my face when he put me down from the speed change, but once I got used to being back on the ground, I proceeded to start freaking out.

"Hey! What the fuck!?" I exclaimed. Alexander fixed his probably very expensive blue shirt and he looked at me for a second, then he looked away. Jacqueline looked like she hadn't even heard me.

They both fully ignored me. Alexander walked to the door of the abandoned house and he unlocked it with a key. I looked at Jacqueline to see if she'd be willing to answer some questions about what the hell was happening, but she didn't even look at me. I sighed.

"Get in." Alexander said once he opened the door. Jacqueline walked in immediately. I crossed my arms over my chest and didn't move an inch.

"I'm not going anywhere until you explain to me why you dragged me out of Dennis's house and brought me here." I demanded. Alexander walked towards me at vampire speed and he stopped when he was about two inches away from me. I gasped from the surprised and took a step back, he took a step forward. I swallowed nervously and my arms fell to my sides without me even noticing. He was so tall and intimidating.

"Get in." he demanded with his eyes fixed on mine.

I didn't know why I felt like Alexander owed me an explanation. Maybe it was because he had been helpful in the last couple of hours. I mean, I knew he did what he did to protect his own kind, not for me or Dennis. But I'd felt in the past moments that he was on our side, and it was surprising to see him acting like he wasn't.

Then a dark thought came to my head; what if he wasn't an ally? What if he was part of this all along? It wouldn't make sense that he killed all the infected vampires, but maybe that was part of a strategy. I kept trying to deny it in my head, but I couldn't find any reasons why he wouldn't do something like that. Dennis had told me how bad he was, and I thought he was exaggerating, but truth be told, I didn't know Alexander at all. I had looked into his eyes and he had promised me he wouldn't hurt me, but maybe that was a lie too and I was just horrible at reading vampires' intentions. I took a deep breath and tried to calm down. If a vampire as old and powerful as Alexander was on the bad side, we were all doomed.

"Stella." His voice made me come back to reality. "Get in." he demanded again. I didn't see the point in refusing, so I walked inside the house with him behind me.

The house looked abandoned from the outside, but -just like the vampire bar we'd visited with Dennis- once we got inside it was a completely different story. The walls were unbelievably tall and the white wallpaper on them had a patron of roses that looked like they were painted with melted gold. There was a big chandelier in the middle of the room that looked like it was mostly diamonds, and maybe it was. The living room, which was all I saw when I went inside, consisted of two red big couches facing each other and a coffee table in the middle, there was also a fireplace in the wall in front of us, and the two doors I could see where made of black wood and had golden frames. The place was unbelievable. I looked around, and for a second I forgot the situation I was in. Right, I was probably about to get murdered of delivered as a peace offering to an old vampire that had the name of an old movie villain.

"The sun's about to come out." Jacqueline, who was leaning on the side of the fireplace, said as she looked at her perfect red nails.

"I know." Alexander said as he closed the door behind him.

"Do any of you want to explain to me what's going on." I thought maybe if I asked politely they would stop being so secretive and scary, and finally tell me why I was there. Jacqueline rolled her eyes and she walked through an arch that separated the living room from another room I couldn't see from where I was standing.
