Chapter 14 - Start of Something New

After the school dance, my life changed forever.

Marithe and I were in the library, as always. We were busy researching for our assignments when Damien’s group disturbed us. Lucio and Niccolo sat in front of me across the table with Marithe between them and Damien sat beside me.

Ano ba iyan?? Kakaasar naman eh, nasira tuloy ang momentum ko. Ano kayang kailangan ng mga ungas na ito?

“What’s up beautiful?”, Lucio asked me.

I removed my earphone and turned off my walkman.

“Oh, nothing much. We’re just researching for today’s assignments! So, what are you guys doing here?”, I asked in a flat tone.

Istorbo talaga sila. Mukhang asar na rin si Marithe.

“Well, we’re just bored. We skipped our afternoon classes then look for you two here.”, said Niccolo.

“Whatever! You already saw us, now what?”, said Marithe in an irritating voice.

“Oh, don’t be too harsh on us, cousin. We just miss our two beautiful princesses!”, Damien said then put his arms around me.

“Ooops! Not so fast my friend! Can you move a little bit?”, sabi niya kay Damien.

Akala ko absent siya kaya hindi kasama nina Damien. It seems late na naman siya.

“Oh, man! I came here first.”, reklamo ni Damien.

“I have something to tell her.”, sabi ni Jacob na medyo naaasar.

Tinanggal niya ang braso ni Damien sa mga balikat ko at sumiksik sa gitna namin.

Oh, my knight in shining armor has just arrived!

Tumitibok na naman ng malakas ang puso ko.

Dub dub dub dub....

My chest feels tight. His mere presence suffocates me. I can’t breathe.

“Ahmmm, Jake anong sasabihin mo?”, excited na tanong ko. Mahihimatay yata ako sa anticipation.

“Ah, wala naman. Palusot ko lang iyon kay Damien.”, sabi niya sabay tawa ng mahina.

Medyo na-disappoint ako sa sinabi niya but at the same time, natawa naman ako. Akala ko kung ano nang sasabihin niya eh.
