Chapter Nine: Approval Day

Sana mag-notif 'yan sa akin 'no? Well, Allistaire still did not accept my friend request nor followed me back. Buti nalang naka-public si best friend niya kaya naii-stalk ko ang mga ginagawa nilang dalawa, hehe.

Saturday. 4 am.

I'm now combing my hair since I just finished taking a bath. 5:30 am kasi dapat nasa school na kami kaya naman kailangan maaga ako. I'm excited, not kinakabahan.

Sabi nila, usually dapat kabado kapag Approval Day. But I'm feeling excited and jolly than my usual self. Maybe the thought of seeing Allistaire is really something that can change someone's mood.

"Kain na, anak!" Mom shouted from downstairs. I asked her to prepare boiled egg and noodles for my breakfast because we were warned na we'll be doing a lot of exercises. Ayaw ko magutom pero ayaw ko ring mabusog masyado.

I quickly finished dressing myself up before going downstairs to eat. Kuya's still asleep kaya naman si Mommy ang maghahatid sa akin ngayon sa school. She's also excited knowing that I really went through and continued training.

"Wow, no make up, huh?" She teased.

"Bagong life na kasi, Mommy."

"You're growing up too fast, my Rilynn. I'm afraid I won't be able to catch up on you..." she smiled at me while stroking my fixed hair.

"You'll always catch up on me, Mom. No matter how far I go."

"Fourty-three," bilang sa'kin ni Ma'am Castro. We're lined up in a straight line while the officers check our attendance. It's now 5:50 in the morning and we're still incomplete.

"Sa mga wala pa dito, quit na sila. They're not on time at kailangan na natin mag-start," Commandant Pavilio said.

Nasa harap siya at nakaupo sa malaking bench. We're now at the school's gym kasama ang mga officers at ibang trainers ng NCAT. I saw Allistaire with the Corps Commander and other officers looking at us. They're all wearing their batch uniform.

"So the first thing we have to do is the CAT Navy Exercise. Gagayahin niyo lamang ang gagawing exercise ng officer sa harap. Understood?"

"Sir aye aye Sir."

"This is just a warm up so kung hindi niyo na kaya or you're experiencing bad things sa katawan niyo, immediately catch the attention of any officer or shout DYING. Okay ba?"

"Sir aye aye Sir."

So this is really hard, huh. Exercises are actually tiring kahit warm up palang. Sa warm up pa nga lang, we were warned that a lot of people experience the 'DYING' incident a lot. Paano pa kaya kung sa kalagitnaan na ng Approval Day?

Pumuwesto sa harapan namin si Allistaire at si Sir Chua. They will be the one to show the exercise to us and sila rin ang gagayahin namin.

"The first exercise is Jumping Jacks. 30," Allistaire coldly said. Iksi talaga magsalita nito.

"The countings would be, 1, 2, 3, 1. 1, 2, 3, 2. Gets niyo?" Sir Chua asked.

"Sir aye aye Sir."

"Commence exercise," ani Sir Chua.

We started counting while doing thirty jumping jacks. It's a fresh start and it's actually a good thing that I am prone to warm ups and exercises because it's a must before dancing.
