Chapter Three: A Normal One

I waved my brother good bye and waited for his car to drive away. It's six in the morning and the sky is still unknowingly dark.

I put my hands on the pocket of my jacket as I walk towards the 24 hour coffee shop that I usually go to every morning especially when it's rainy season.

The bell placed on the cafe door made a soft jingling sound which made Ate Kyle glance at me.

"Good morning, Rilynn! Usual order?" I smiled and greeted her back with a good morning before nodding to answer her question.

I sat down on the couch near the glass. I have a weird habbit of observing the people walking outside the coffee shop on a rainy day kaya naman madalas akong pumunta rito.

Ate Kyle, the barista, placed my Caramel Macchiato on the glass table and sat down on the chair across me.

"I heard that you joined an org," sabi niya bago sumimsim sa kaniyang kape.

"Sinabi nila Nova, 'no?"

Natatawa siyang tumango. My friends really have a loud mouth. Kuwinento pa talaga sa iba!

"Are you ready for it, Ri? Stop it if you're just doing it to get your father's attention. Mahihirapan ka lamang."

"I'm ready naman, ate. I just want na makuha 'yung attention ni daddy. And besides, wala namang mawawala if I try, 'di ba?"

She nodded but the worry in her eyes is still evident.

"Walang mawawala, pero may dadagdag, Rilynn."

"Game ba kayo sa Friday? Tara gala!" Brile, one of my friends said.

"Sure! Sa bahay niyo ha, Brile?" Tuwang tuwa si Stella habang naka-kunot naman ang noo ni Jaxtin. Nova and I are just listening to them talk about their plans.

"I can't go. Sorry," malungkot kong sabi sa kanila. Stella will surely get mad at me, she's not the understanding type.

"Ako rin," Jaxtin said. We both can't go because of the unexpected meeting on Friday in CAT.

"Bakit hindi kayo puwede? Magde-date kayo 'no!"

He probably didn't take that one as a joke.

"Tumigil ka nga. Palibhasa ang kitid ng utak mo." After that, he walked out on us. What's his problem? For sure the two of them fought about something, but Stella seems fine and problem-free to me.

"Anong problema niya? Tsk."

Days passed and it's finally Friday. I'm wearing a white shirt with the school's logo and design and a navy blue jogging pants that has yellow stripes on the side.

All of us, girls, have to tie our hairs up because it's one of our teacher's rules. While boys must always have their hair cut every first Monday of the month.

Girls must tie their hair up in a bun kapag kasali ka sa CAT. It's a must to wear a hairnet and tuck your PE shirt as always when worn. Same goes sa boys, dapat palaging naka-tuck in ang shirt except na lamang kapag regular uniform ang suot which is polo shirt and blouse naman sa babae.
