Chapter 20: Bella Wakes Up/Prom

A Few Days Later:

Bella was still in the hospital. She hasn't woke up yet but her parents have arrived. Charlie came in yesterday pissed at Edward, blamed him for Bella's leaving, but to him it did seem that way.

Carlisle and my parents thought it would be best for me to tell him what happened. Which was that I came down with Carlisle, Jasper, and his siblings to help Edward talk to Bella since she needed a friend, but on her way in she tripped up the stairs, breaking her leg, bit her wrist on the way down, and fell through a window causing her blood loss.

Charlie was worried sick, but thanked me for trying to get Bella to return to Forks. I also met Renee, she's the sweetest. She and I were in Bella's room, while Edward was "asleep". I heard her heart beat speed up a little, indicating that she was waking up.

"Bella? Bella, hey." Renee smiled as Bella woke up.

"Where is he? Where's..... Where's Edward?" Bella asked.

"He's asleep." Renee answered. "He never leaves."

"And Charlie is down in the cafeteria." I added.

"What happened?" Bella asked.

"Well, when you fell, you broke your leg." Renee told her. "And you lost a lot of blood. You don't remember any of this, do you?"

Bella shook her head. I knew she was acting like she didn't know, so she could get the cover story. Smart.

"Edward, Carlisle, Jasper, the rest of the siblings, and I came down, to try and convince you to come back to Forks. So you went over to their hotel, then you tripped, and you fell down two flights of stairs, and went through a window." I told her.

"Yeah, that sounds like me." Bella mumbled.

"Oh, honey, I'm so sorry." Renee cried, then whipped the tears as she responded back to a text. "It's Phil, he's so worried about you."

"Your texting?" Bella asked surprised.

"Finally, yeah." Renee laughed. "I told him to stay down in Florida. Honey, you are going to love Jacksonville. It's sunny every day, and we found the cutest little house, and you've got your own bathroom...."

"Mom, I still want to live in Forks." Bella told her.

"What?" Renee asked shocked.

"I wanna live in Forks." Bella repeated.

"Well, okay, but we'll talk about it." Renee nodded.

"Do you mind getting Dad?" Bella asked. "I have to talk to him. Apologize."

"Okay, baby, I'll go get him. And a nurse." Renee nodded before leaving.

Once she was gone Edward stood up as Bella looked at the both of us.

"So what happened? Where's James?" Bella asked.

"We took care of him." I assured her.

"But, the woman, Victoria, she ran off." Edward stated.

"I'm alive because of you." Bella told him.

"No, you're in here because of me." Edward scoffed.

"And that is my cue to leave." I stated. "Do you want anything?"

"No, I'm good." Bella shook her head. "Thank you."

I nodded with a smile before leaving. When I walked out I was met with Jasper.

"You okay?" Jasper asked.

"Yeah, I'm just glad this is all over." I sighed as he held me.

"You and me both, come on." Jasper said, walking me through the hospital.
