Prologue

I felt my surroundings disappear, the wind nipping against my skin as I flew through the air. I felt free, alive. That's why I loved being on a trapeze, it helped relieve all my problems as I glided through the open air. The tension of whether I would miss the trapeze or not was exhilarating.

"(Y/n)!" I heard my brother Jeremiah yell from below.

"Time to come down!" Jerome, my other brother, added.

I sighed, falling gracefully and landing in the fishnet, bouncing a few times.

I got up, walking over to my brothers with a wide smile.

"What's up?" I asked.

"Mother wants us back now" Jeremiah informed and I nodded.

...

"(Y/n) wake up" I stirred slightly, trying to ignore the voice.

"C'mon (Y/n), it's time to get up" I slowly peeled my eyes open to see Uncle Zac standing above me, Jeremiah beside him.

"What's wrong?" I asked groggily.

"It's time to leave" he said.

"What? Why? Where?" I asked, sitting up.

"I'll answer all your questions later, but for now you must go say goodbye to your mother" he said and I gave a quizzical look.

"Now!" He whisper-yelled making me jump a little.

I got out of bed and walked over to my mother, kissing her head gently.

"Goodbye" I whispered to her sleeping form before leaving with Jeremiah and Uncle Zac with no explanation.

...

I stared at the laminated card in front of me, confused but begrudgingly nodding my head.

"Hayley Wilder" I read, looking at Jeremiah to see his said Xander Wilder.

"These are your new identities, you are no longer (Y/n) and Jeremiah Valeska. Stick by these, alright?" Uncle Zac said.

"But what about Jerome?" I asked.

"He is a lost cause, you should just forget him" Uncle Zac said.

My heart shattered at his comment. I mean he can't be serious, it's Jerome. I get he wasn't the sanest person at times but he's still our brother.

"Do you understand (Y/n)?" He asked irritated and I meekly nodded in return.

"Very well, now I must leave but you two will be fine, just look out for each other" he smiled, kissing us both in the head and leaving.

I turned to Jeremiah, a little shaken and confused.

"We can have a fresh start (Y/n), a new life away from the circus" he smiled.

"But Jerome?" I asked weakly.

"Uncle Zac is right, just forget him"

...

I smirked, staring at the pale corpses in front of me while holding the baseball bat in my hand.
