Kiss & Tell - [Part Forty-nine]

✿✿✿

If I lay here

If I just lay here

Would you lie with me and just forget the world?

Chasing Cars - Snow Patrol

✿✿✿

The world was moving in slow motion.

It took me awhile to realize that.

I was falling, stumbling back and back and back, but the ground only seemed to be centuries away.

I knew that I was dying. I could feel it as the wind carried me to my demise.

But for a second, for those few fucking decades that seemed to pass as I stopped struggling for balance, I felt more alive than I ever was living.

I was flying.

And then...

....I was gone.

Few hours before

Jasmine POV

I'm a domino.

I stand there, taking punches that are being thrown at me, but careful not to fall. Most of my life was spent standing still, and I made sure that if I ever fell, I would fall front instead of backwards.

But that's the thing. I'm a domino. I wasn't made to fall front, I was made to fall backwards.

Because even after my dad left us, even after our family started to break apart, even after knowing I had to leave my friends behind, even after fuckíng flying on a plane for ten hours straight to some random town to spend the rest of my high school life in, I was still standing on my fucking feet, I was still breathing the air. I was still here. I was alive. I was strong and I wouldn't let life break me no matter how hard that bitch tried to.

But I'm a domino.

I was made to fall backwards.

And affect my brother who stood right behind me, and my mother who stood right behind him, and my friends who stood right behind her.

I'm a domino.

And I caused a virus.

Ashton POV

My hands feel cold from the blazing air flowing through Caleb's convertible. It's hot outside, but it's raining, causing a humid climate that is the norm here in Maine. I stare at Caleb from the corner of my eye. He doesn't seem to care much about the car suddenly turning into Alaska, even while wearing only a light t-shirt. "So," I say, sneakily turning down the air condition before it froze us into hypothermia. "The roads are starting to get a bit slippery; let's just head to your house, grab a few beers and because I don't really want to die, we can watch House of Cards together."

He glances at me from the side of his eye for a few seconds but then quickly looks back at the road ahead. "I already watched the whole season," he mumbles, shaking his head a little. "I wasn't going to wait for your ass to finally watch it with me."

I slouch back in the seat, lifting my feet back up to the dashboard, completely bored once again. "Why don't you just let it go then?"

"Are we talking about House of Cards now or are we talking about Cody?" He responds through gritted teeth, sounding pissed off as usual.
