Alatan quickly bowed when he noticed Merlin, the others following his example.
"My prince" Alatan said and Merlin started to flush, he was no longer used to all that attention.
"Get up" Merlin said, he then straightened his back and looked at the knights, before smiling.
"Alatan, I've missed you!" Merlin said, before walking forward and hugging his best friend, he then made a fist with his hand, put it first in front of his mouth, then forehead and then back to his mouth, the others doing the same.
"Everybody who isn't part of the council, leave!" Arthur said, quickly everybody started to leave, only the knights of the round table, Merlin, Gwen, Gaius and the other knights were in the room.
"Well, we found our prince, who wants to have a hangover?" The blonde knight said.
"I'm starting to like these knights" Gwaine said.
"You and your hangovers Greg, don't get too drunk." Merlin jokingly said, before looking at Arthur.
"You, a prince?" Arthur was still shocked and Merlin sighed.
"No, I'm a farmer, you clotpole"
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"I wanted to, but then your father would have probably killed me, and I didn't want to put you in that situation."
"Wait, so, everytime you did nothing, you were just thinking about your kingdom instead of doing your chores?"
"Oh no, here we go" Gaius mumbled when he noticed Merlin's offended look.
"Do you think I sit around doing nothing? I haven't had a chance to sit around and doing nothing since the day I arrived in Camelot. I'm too busy running around after you 'Do this, Merlin!' 'Do that, Merlin!'... and when I'm not running around after you, I'm doing chores for Gaius and when I'm not doing that I'm fulfilling my 'destiny'. Do you know how many times I've saved your life?" Arthur who opened his mouth was cut off by Merlin.
"I've lost count. Do I get any thanks? No. I have fought griffins, witches, uh, bandits. I have been punched, poisoned, pelted with fruit, and all the while I have to hide who I really am because if anyone finds out, Uther will have me executed. Sometimes I feel like I'm being pulled in so many directions I don't know which way to turn!"
Gaius raised his brow while the others looked shocked at Merlin.
"Wait, what?" Artur said.
"Clotpole!" Merlin sighed, why is Arthur so dumb.
"Idiot"
"Pratt"
"Turnip head"
"Cabbage head"
"Clotpole"
"Hey, that's my word"
"Yeah, but it suits you better" Merlin rolled his eyes.
"I'm sorry to interrupt, sire, but, what are we going to do now?" Alatan interrupted.
"We will plan everything, you can train our knights to show them the weak points and how to fight. I also want a map of the kingdom and just information about everything, the weather, the borders, creatures, just everything." Alatan nodded.
"Tomorrow I want a hunting party, I want to see how good you are" Arthur said and again, Alatan nodded.
They all started to leave until Arthur and Merlin were the only ones left.
"Well, you're a prince now" Arthur said, disturbing the awkward silence between them.
"No, I am your servant until we cross the border. Oh yeah, one thing, my kingdom is a magical kingdom, so, yeah, I have magic."
"You're a sorcerer?"
"No, I'm a warlock! I was born with it!"
"What's the difference?"
"A warlock is born with their powers while a sorcerer takes years to study. Magic is in the warlock's blood. I am born of that magic. I am the son of the earth, the sea and the sky. Magic is the fabric of this world and I am born of that magic. I am magic itself." Arthur nodded.
"So, you didn't have a choice?" Merlin rolled his eyes and sighs.
"Clotpole."
