[You were my best friend] - [The best friend]
The girl hadn't shut up for the past five minutes. Niall and yourself had gotten his things packed up in a large tour bag he had left behind.
"Just ignore her. She'll look like the idiot."
You had reminded him earlier which he had just nodded in response to. Tears were threatening his tear ducts as he pulled the bag over his shoulder. His hand immediately took yours as he unlocked and opened the door. You were both met with a red faced acquaintance who stopped staring wide eyed.
"W-what..." She choked out as Niall pulled you both through the house. "What the hell is that?!" She screamed as Niall tightened his hand around yours. "Are you two dating?! That is not ok-"
"JUST SHUT UP!" Niall screamed turning to face her as she was silenced. Regaining his composure, Niall growled pulling you behind him. "You don't get to stand there and tell me what is and is not ok for me anymore! I control my life now."
Harry stared wide eyed at the two of you as he let his shirt slip down and cover the rest of his torso.
"Who are y-you?" Your old friend said coming back beside Harry.
"Somebody who's changed."
Without another word, Niall then pulled you both out of the front door and back to the car. He buckled up as did you before you pulled out letting your fingers lightly shake after that sudden confrontation.
Niall's hand held your knee again as he sighed. You reached out your hand and took his within your grasp, replacing your knee. His hand began to rub yours again as your eyes focused on the road whereas your mind wondered off.
"I'm proud of you Niall." Niall looked over at you as you kept your eyes averted forward. "For moving on. For being brave and strong. For being the backbone during this whole situation for both of us."
Niall smiled kissing the back of your hand as the car then came to a comfortable silence.
You didn't know what was planned ahead. What the future had in store for you both. Whether you would both fully move on ,or where you both stand. But one thought you had in mind you had absolutely no doubt about.
It was that Niall was going to be there for you. And you two would gave a connection throughout your entire lives not even Harry or the acquaintance could prevent.
