Their one week vacation from California has finally ended.

Things were back to normal.

Meghan was just listening to her secretary as she laid off her schedule for that day. Habang nakikinig siya rito ay hindi naman niya maiwasang may maramdamang kakaiba sa sikmura niya. Somehow, she sensed that Trina's perfume was too strong for that day. Parang sumasakit ang ulo niya dahil sa pabangong ginagamit nito.

"Ma'am, mamaya, pupuntuhan niyo iyong Metro City Elementary School. Katatapos lang po kasi last week 'nung building na ipinagawa ng Metro City government. Ngayon po ipapa-open para magamit ng mga estudyante..."

She nodded and forced a smile - as if someone was hammering her head, "Trina... what perfume do you use?"

Hindi naman nito inasahan ang tanong niya. Trina took it as a random question, "Uhm... Sa Penshoppe, Ma'am."

"Is it new?"

"No, Ma'am... Ano po, ito na po 'yung perfume na palaging ginagamit ko."

"Ah..." Napahilot naman siya sa noo niya, "Masyadong matapang kasi 'yung amoy."

"Ma'am, uhm, magsusuot na lang po ako ng jacket para hindi niyo maamoy 'yung perfume," Anito nang mapansing naging masama ang pakiramdam niya.

"Thank you, Trina," She replied and Trina immediately went out from her office. Pagkatapos na ilang minuto ay bumalik na ito sa loob at ipinagpatuloy ang pagrereport sa schedule niya.

After that, based on her schedule for that day, kaagad naman niyang pinuntahan ang public school to meet the principal and the faculty.

As usual, Kaiden was the one driving the car while she was sitting beside him on the front seat. Meghan took a deep breath and exhaled as she tried to close her eyes to sleep on the side. She wasn't feeling well. She could feel she'd collapse anytime. But then kailangan niyang magtrabaho kasi siya ang inaasahan ng lahat. Dahil siya ang Mayor at hindi pwedeng walang siyang gagawin.

"Meg," Kade called her attention.

"Hmm?"

"Are you sure you're going? I-uuwi na lang kita sa bahay. You don't seem well."

She opened her eyes and smiled at him. Hinawakan naman niya ang pisngi nito, "Thank you for the concern, Lieutenant. But it's fine. Baka jetlagged lang 'to. Kakarating lang natin kahapon from California kaya siguro masama iyong pakiramdam ko."

Napabuntong-hininga naman ito. Hinawakan naman nito ang kamay niya at hinalikan ang tuktok niyon, "Okay. Just don't overwork."

She gave him a kiss on the cheek and went back to sleep.

Pagkatapos ng biyahe ay dumating na rin sila sa public school. Some of the children who recognized her started to become excited and enthusiastic. Even though she wasn't feeling well during that hour, she couldn't help but to giggle when the children started greeting and hugging her. Si Kaiden naman ay nakasunod lang sa kanya sa likod.

"Mayor," It was the principal, Mrs. Guzman who came to her first. They both kissed each other's cheek for greetings, "Ang saya po namin na bumisita ka ngayon dito. Kaming lahat talagang inabangan ang pagpunta mo rito."

She squeezed the old woman's shoulder. Mas matangkad kasi siya rito, "Ako rin naman po ay masayang nakabisita rito. Kamusta ang mga bata?"

Both of them were walking towards the newly-built building. It was a three-storey building. Bawat floor ng building ay may anim na classrooms. The government really exerted an effort in this project dahil sa kakulangan ng classrooms para sa mga bata na ang resulta ay nagiging congested ang lugar. The building was almost built for a year. The local government also provided new sets of chairs, tables, blackboards and cabinets. Pati na rin mga lockers ay provided din. Electric fans were also given. Maybe, next time, if madagdagan ang pondo nila, she'll make all the classrooms air-conditioned. Ito kasi ang pinakamalaking public elementary school ng Metro City.
