"Grab the tape," I told Keaton. We were at my house, doing some last-minute present wrapping before the Christmas party.

He handed me a roll of tape. I put the finishing touches on my last gift. "Done, finally."

"Sweet," said Keaton. "So, do you wanna go to my house, or do you wanna just chill here for a little bit?"

"I think we should be good people and help your mom," I said, letting out a small laugh.

He chuckled. "You're probably right."

"I wanna get ready first, though. I don't want to have to come back later."

"Alright, go ahead, then."

I went into my closet, grabbing the clothes I had laid out for the party. I was wearing a white shirt with a floral lighting bolt on it, a black skirt, and black heels. I went into my bathroom and got changed. I fixed my makeup as well. I had straightened my hair that morning, so I just quickly brushed it.

I went back into my room. Keaton was sitting on my bed, looking on his phone. He looked up at me, slipping his phone in his pocket. He smiled. "You look beautiful."

I smiled back. "Why thank you. I really do try."

"But that's the thing, you don't even have to try. You're already the most beautiful girl in the world." He stood up and wrapped his arm around my waist. He placed a kiss on my temple. "You ready to go?"

"Yeah, I just need my phone," I replied. I grabbed my phone off of my bedside table, unplugging it from the charger. We then left my room, going outside. We walked to Keaton's house after that.

Wes and Kaylee were in the kitchen when we walked in. "Sup losers," Wes joked.

"Oh, so we're the losers? Says you," I retorted.

He fake gasped. "Hurtful!"

I chuckled. "You're such an idiot."

"I honestly can't deny that."

Laraine came into the room. "Oh, good, you two are here. I could use the extra help."

"Keaton didn't want to help, but I made him come," I laughed.

"Typical," she said, letting out a chuckle.

"I'm standing right here!" Keaton laughed.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever," I said, causing the others to laugh.

"Alright, we have a half hour until people start showing up. Wes and Kaylee, I need you to get all of the drinks from the garage and put them in the coolers in the kitchen. Keaton and Chloe, you need to lock all of the doors upstairs, and make sure the basement is cleaned up."

"Alright, let's do this," said Wes. He and Kaylee went out to the garage.

Keaton and I went upstairs. "I still have to get changed, so you can start locking the doors if you want. Or you can wait." Keaton said, as we walked into his room.

"I'll just wait, I need to text Steph, anyway," I replied. He nodded, grabbing some clothes from his closet and going into the bathroom to change.

I turned on my phone and went into the messages app. I texted Stephanie, asking her if she was coming She had been driving back from her college in Washington, and she wasn't sure if she was going to make it to the party or not. She replied quickly, saying that she was hoping to be home by 11, so she would probably be able to make it.

Keaton came out of the bathroom, buttoning his shirt. He was wearing black pants and a maroon button-down shirt. I could see that he was struggling.

"Oh my god, I'm so pathetic. I can't even button a shirt," he laughed.

"You're unbelievable," I retorted. I walked over to him, fixing the last two buttons on his shirt.

He chuckled. "Thanks."

"Come on, we gotta lock the doors," I said, letting out a chuckle.

The party had started about an hour before. Many people had shown up, and others were coming in about every ten minutes. At that time, I was having a conversation with Laraine. We were talking about Christmas, since our families were having a celebration together that year.

"What time should we be coming tomorrow?" I asked.

"Anytime should be good, it doesn't matter. Wes has been telling me that he's gonna wake everybody up at six, so..." Laraine replied, laughing a bit as she trailed off.

I chuckled. "You should just be hoping he won't dump water on you to get you up. He'll also scream in your face if he does that. Trust me, I know from experience."

She laughed. "Well, either way, you guys can come at whatever time you choose."

A woman who I recognized as Wes and Keaton's aunt approached us. She was the sister of Bill, their dad. I knew that no one in their family really liked her, even Bill. However, I had never met her before, so I didn't have any reason not to like her.

"Hello, Laraine," she said, a smile on her face.

"Hi, Kathy, good to see you," she replied.

"You as well." She looked at me. "And who is this?"

"This is Chloe, Keaton's girlfriend."

She smiled at me. "Nice to meet you."

"You, too," I replied.

"So, what are your plans for tomorrow?" she asked Laraine.

"Chloe and Kaylee, one of Wes and Keaton's best friends, and their families are coming to our house."

Kathy smiled. "Well, that sounds nice."

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw someone leaving out the front door. I could tell that it was Kaylee. However, I wasn't sure what she was doing.

"I'll be back," I told Laraine, heading towards the door. I went outside, following Kaylee to the side yard.

She turned around, noticing that I was there. "What's up? How come you're not inside with everyone else?" I asked.

"I just needed to get away from Wes, that's all," she replied.

"But he's, like, your best friend! You told me you were going to hang out with him the whole night!"

"Well, that changed when Carly showed up. He totally likes her. He's barely talked to me this whole time. I want her to leave. She totally likes him, too." So that was why she had come outside.

"And why does that bother you? You told me you'd never have feelings for Wes."

She sighed. "Well, that's the thing, Chloe... I like him."
