Chapter 9

A Certain Someone

Percy's PoV

"This is Aria, daughter of Hephaestus and possibly a hunter", I said

"Still doesn't answer our question, why are you guys arm in arm?", Phoebe said as she glared at me.

"Oh! Sorry, didn't notice that!", Artemis said, did she really not notice that we were linking arms or did she just choose to ignore it? Not gonna lie, this past month, I have started growing closer to Artemis, the way she talks, the way she hunts, her silver eyes, her Auburn hair, she was perfect. Of course I didn't plan on making a move , that would be bad, really bad.

I think I started noticing these tiny details about her that I didn't know about earlier, like when she knits her eyebrows and bites her lips when she is confused or thinking very deeply.

I don't know what this feeling is but it's much stronger and better than what I felt with Annabeth or Rachel or Calypso for that matter.

"Well, I see you have set up camp Warriors, good job, though do tell why I can see silver tents among our black ones?", I asked

"Uhhh, well, the tents were not working properly so we thought we should ask the hunters for some of their spare supplies", one of the Warriors spoke up

"Hope you don't mind", I said as I turned to face Artemis and gave her a dazzling smile. She just nodded though I could see her face was a little red, she should see Apollo, she might have the flu or something.

"Well, I believe we can all go back to our daily routines now, right Warriors?", I said as I gestured towards the patch of empty land used for training.

They just turned and left, going back to what they were doing. The hunters followed suit while I followed Artemis and Aria to a secluded spot.

"So Aria would you like to join the hunt?", Artemis asked

"Yes, Percy explained it to me when he was rescuing me", Aria replied

"Okay, well then , repeat after me: I pledge myself to the goddess Artemis, turn my back on the company of men and accept eternal maidenhood", Artemis said and Aria repeated, she glowed silver and then went back to normal.

"Go towards the archery range, you will find Thalia there who will explain everything to you", Artemis told Aria who nodded and left.

I was about to leave when Artemis called me "Wait Perseus! Is your arm okay now?", she asked, she seemed genuinely concerned.

"Of course Arty, perfectly fine", I said and she fumed when she heard me call her that name.

"Oh come on! You know you like it, why so mad?", I said just to see her reaction, to my surprise she just turned away from me and looked down.

I wonder if I hurt her, well, looks like we're going to find out. "Hey Artemis, sorry didn't mean to be rude, are you alright?", I asked as I touched her shoulder.

"Y-yeah, I am f-fine", she started "Got to go!", and with that she was gone.

Artemis's PoV

I can't believe I stuttered, I also can't believe Perseus touched my shoulder. I could feel butterflies in my stomach whenever I thought about him.

I have to go see Aphrodite right now! Like now, now!

I flashed to Olympus, just outside the palace I never thought I would ever set foot in. I knocked on the door, silence, I wanted for a few seconds, then knocked again, a little more loudly this time.

The door was immediately opened by Aphrodite herself who was surprised to see me, ugh she is going to tease me forever, maybe I should go...

"Artemis! Come in! Come in!", she squealed

Too late, now I am stuck here, might as well let it out right now. I narrated the whole story to her, how I kept having these thoughts about Perseus, everything till this afternoon.

"Well, it seems to me that you have a crush", Aphrodite said as she looked at me with a smirk.

"Wipe that smirk off your face! I am supposed to be a maiden, I can't like or love! I am the most feared man-hunter, I can't fall for a male!", I screamed at her.

"Calm down, your father seems to be okay with the idea of you and him, why can't you just accept the fact that you have a little crush and try to get him!", she said to me, I began to think maybe for once she might be right.

"Even if you were right, I can't just go up to him and say 'Hey Perseus! I have a crush on you, can we be together? Please don't say no cause that'll crush my heart!' Now can I!", I asked her.

"Ugh, why don't you try to be friends with him, he's easygoing, an extrovert, I think you can easily be friends with him, just give it a try", she said as she looked at me.

"I guess I could try", I replied reluctantly

"Okay, it's not important how you feel about him, it's important what he thinks of you, so Artemis, what does Percy Think of you?", she asked and this got me thinking, what did he actually think about me? Sure he smiles at me and is nice but he's probably that way towards everyone, so where do I stand?

"Just try the friendship thing Artemis, get closer to him, get to know him", Aphrodite said, this was one of the few moments where I had a civil conversation with her. I nodded my head and flashed out. But not before Aphrodite called out "Ee can go to your father together to revoke your vow!", I glared at her and left.

I couldn't help but think, What did Perseus think of me?
